Sliding Plate Patents (Class 40/491)
  • Patent number: 5151687
Abstract: An apparatus for recording identifying data of electronic media-taped material is provided in two embodiments: mechanical and electronic. An example mechanical embodiment has a rectangular case with dimensions approximating those of a video cassette container, to facilitate compatible storage. Movable slides are mounted within the case, with icons on their upper surfaces, identifying status and subjects relating to tape condition and recorded material, respectively. The case front comprises a panel face, window, slots, and labels. Tabs project through the slots and provide means to set current tape status and material subject icons in the display window for selected tape time slots. During retrieval of material previously recorded, the operator determines taped material subject and duration, recorder counter reading, and time slot status by viewing the state/subject icons displayed, in relation to panel face labels.

  • Patent number: 5112290
Abstract: A pop-out slide and a method of fabricating the same from a single continuous web of material. The method comprises cutting a web of material to define a through slot and a cutout, such that the cutout in turn defines a pop-out member superimposable with and shaped and alignable for selective extension through the slot, slitting said web into two ribbons, one ribbon including said slot and the other including the cutout and the pop-out member. The method proceeds by stacking the ribbons in a position for aligning the pop-out member with the slot, applying a seam of glue adjacent the slot and marrying the ribbon carrying the pop-out member with the ribbon carrying the slot. Thereafter, the method proceeds by folding over the slot-carrying ribbon so as to fully enclose the ribbon carrying the pop-out member and such that the seam of glue extends through the cutout defining the pop-out member to adhesively secure with a facing surface of the slot-carrying ribbon to the other side thereof.

  • Patent number: 4809453
Abstract: This invention relates to a folding card that displays one picture when closed and another picture when opened, comprising three hinged panels which form a front cover, a rear cover and an inside panel. Positioned partially in upper and lower channels formed by flanges hinged to the inside cover are a stationary picture unit and a movable picture unit. The picture units are each made of two subunits formed with slots and strips which are fitted together with the strips partially overlapping. The two picture units are mated together, and an extension of the moving picture unit is attached to the front cover. When the assembled picture card is in a closed position, the strips of the movable unit are displayed; when opened, the extension pulls the movable picture unit to the left causing its strips to smoothly slide behind the now displayed strips of the stationary unit as a result of the overlapping construction.

  • Patent number: 4355479
Abstract: An electrically illuminated sign has a box-like frame with a front face opening and encloses a message plate displaying a message unit through the opening. A separate opaque border strip circumscribes the message unit of the message plate forwardly overlying the same and being forwardly engaged by a frame flange. Opposite side parts of the border strip have directional signal openings formed therethrough normally exposing a contrasting coloration of the message plate therethrough and selectively slidably removable cover strips are positioned between the message plate and border strip covering the border strip directional signal openings with a coloration matching the border strip. The sign may be attached to a mounting surface by a two-piece mounting bracket having a first part secured to the frame and a second part securable to the mounting surface with the bracket parts having slidably interfitting dove-tail portions securing the parts.

  • Patent number: 4344244
Abstract: A signage system includes a frame including a vertical support plate having horizontal sign mounting flanges on at least one side of the plate. Removable plate-shaped lettering inserts are mounted on the frame by mounting flanges on the back surface of the lettering inserts that mate with the mounting flanges on the support plate. The flanges are engaged by fitting the mounting flanges of the lettering insert endwise on the ends of the mounting flanges for the support plate and sliding the lettering inserts horizontally onto the frame. Removable end caps cover the ends of the frame and lettering inserts, with the end caps including at least two opposed resilient fingers that fit over and press resiliently against the opposite sides of the support plate to hold the end caps on the frame. The end caps are formed by joining together two identical halves.

  • Patent number: 4233768
Abstract: A sheet of two contiguous detachable leaf members is folded and separated to form slide and sleeve components of the calculator. Fold lines in the sheet are formed parallel to a separation or tear line that divides on leaf member from the other leaf member. In assembling the slide calculator the leaf members can be separated before or after the folding operation. In various embodiments of the invention an information readout is provided on reverse sides of the calculator including one embodiment wherein the printed format of the slide and sleeve components is applied to one surface only of the respective leaf members. The slide component can be formed of two or more generally rectangular elongated slide segments folded into overlapping disposition, with data applied to each side of the slide segments.

Abstract: A slidable window sign is disclosed having a front panel adapted for securement to a window, a back panel attached to the front panel, and a slidable member positioned between the front and back panels. The front panel may contain indicia for viewing through the window without the risk of soiling through use. The slidable member may also include indicia and at least one protrusion thereon to allow vertical mounting without slippage. Foldable ends on the slidable member prevent it from being separated from the panels under normal uses. The ends may be unfolded to form a coplanar relation with the body of the member for purposes of removal.

  • Patent number: 4161315
Abstract: A stacker is described for facilitating the play of war games and the like. Such games are played on a game board and cardboard counters are typically used to represent personnel or military hardware. Frequently the counters are stacked on top of one another and need to be moved. To overcome the tendency of knocking over the stacked counters and also to facilitate the evaluation of the counters in the stack, a frame is provided for holding the counters in a vertical, side-to-side orientation. The frame may be moved and both sides of the counters may be displayed to the players if desired or required. In a first embodiment of the invention, the frame comprises a flat base designed to fit within the spaces of the game board and two aligned track members perpendicularly affixed to the base. The counters are held between the two tracks. In an alternate embodiment of the present invention, the track members are replaced by an elongate plastic strip which includes a fold forming clip for supporting the counters.

  • Patent number: 4149330
Abstract: The present invention, a digital instant schedule computer or DISC, computes and displays symmetric schedules for assigning to stations the participants in an experiment or tournament. There is a master board and a plurality of slides, each of which can be inserted in said master board in several ways. Each insertion of a slide gives a juxtaposition of two scales: a scale on the slide which gives the indicia of the participants to be scheduled and a scale on the master board which gives indicia referring to the stations. Each admissible setting of a slide in the master board gives a subschedule which assigns each participant to the station opposite his indicium. The participant indicia and station indicia are displayed so that each participant can read off his station assignment.
