Interchangeable Plate Patents (Class 40/575)
  • Patent number: 4805324
Abstract: A light sign comprising an illuminant (1) provided with substantially parallel channels (2) for discharge tubes (3), at least one translucent sign panel as a support or holder for sign message and a frame (9) which peripherally defines the light sign. The object of the invention is to form a light sign specially intended to be used in such connections where a re-signing often occurs, e.g. on taxi-cabs and where the sign should be very narrow for having as little air resistance as possible, where re-signing should be done with a few manipulations of the sign and without weakening the frame construction of the sign. The light sign should further by simple means be connectible to attachment of different kinds, so that several light signs can be connected with each other forming a continuous unit, e.g., for providing screen walls for exhibition purposes.

  • Patent number: 4421317
Abstract: An electronic game includes a base having an opening; at least one three-dimensional image stored on a plate, typically a hologram; a light source for each image; a microcomputer; and player controls. Illumination of the plate by the light source projects a three-dimensional image seen during play of the game. In some versions light emitting diodes are provided to supplement the three-dimensional image being displayed.

  • Patent number: 4406998
Abstract: A device for facilitating non-verbal communications between individuals. The device includes a two-sided panel containing a plurality of message blocks which are selectively illuminated by the individuals in a variety of modes. In a first mode, the message blocks are sequentially scanned in one of two patterns, with scan direction and termination being controlled by actuating a switch. In a second mode, a transparent, direct select keyboard is placed over the message blocks and individual message blocks are selected by touching the keyboard in front of the block to be selected. Finally, the position of the illuminated message block may be controlled by a job stick. The message blocks on the panel are printed on removable overlays which are specially adapted for various situations. The overlays carry identifying markings which are automatically read by the device so that the messages on the overlay, which are stored in non-volatile memory, can be correlated to their position on the panel.

  • Patent number: 4383382
Abstract: A self-luminous safety sign with variable legend capability. A housing supports a faceplate having safety warnings or symbols thereon. Self-luminous lights, adapted to illuminate selected characters or symbols on the faceplate without external electrical connections, are selectively mounted in the housing. The lights are removable from and displaceable within the housing so that the desired characters or symbols on the faceplate can be illuminated.

  • Patent number: 4299042
Abstract: A frame construction for an illuminated sign comprises a metal sheathing on both top and bottom frame members of the frame, the sheathing being bent at its longitudinal edges to form longitudinally extending grooves, wherein both the top and the bottom frame members having longitudinally extending flanges inserted in the sheathing, while the longitudinal grooves of the sheathing are employed for mounting partly translucent front sheets, end frame members of the frame including tongues extending perpendicular thereto which are insertable into cavities formed by the longitudinal bent portions of the sheathing.

  • Patent number: 4265039
Abstract: A fabric is stretched across a sign framework to serve as a display face. Forming the framework are upper, lower and respective side support elements. Depending upon the particular version, a hinge or saddle is affixed to one or more of the support elements. A hinge pin tensioner has limited rotation and is coupled to a marginal portion of the farbric. In some versions, such hinge assemblies are included along more than one side of the framework. In others, different fasteners are employed along some of the support elements. In one particular approach, the fabric is stretched directly across a separate frame that, in turn, is hinged along a support element of the main framework, so that the frame may be swung away for the purpose of obtaining access to the interior of the main framework that usually encloses a source of illumination.

  • Patent number: 4228596
Abstract: An illuminated teaching device and board game comprising a square receptacle having opaque side walls and bottom and a top wall formed with a plurality of orifices each of which receives a pushbutton switch for completing an electrical circuit from a battery to a lamp positioned beneath each section of the receptacle defined by vertical partitions arranged in normal relation to each other. Opposed side walls are formed with confronting channels which slidably receive the edges of a panel which performs different functions in providing aids to education. For teaching purposes, this removable panel includes sections of different colors and indicia, such as the names of colors, arithmetical figures or representations of such objects as pets. When used as a game board, each pushbutton switch may be depressed to turn on a light which is kept illuminated until the particular game or step thereof being played is completed.

  • Patent number: 4226038
Abstract: A device for displaying photo-slides having a panel with a light source behind it and several sets of parallel rails to support photographic slides for viewing. Each set of rails has an upper and lower rail that are spaced to support the top and bottom of the back surface of the photo-slides, and on the upper rail there is a series of pick off teeth with a stop surface protruding above the rail at a height slightly less than the thickness of a photo-slide. A slide handler box receives a stack of photo-slides and slides along, astride the upper and lower rails so that as the stack engages a pick-off tooth, a single photo-slide is engaged, stripped away, and stopped in place on the rail. The back of the handler box has an opening at the bottom just wide enough to allow one photo-slide to pass.

  • Patent number: 4070779
Abstract: A display sign is disclosed for displaying printed matter on a backlighted poster or the like. The sign includes a display case defining a first compartment containing a light source, the display case having a front opening for the transmission of light therethrough. A closure panel is adapted to cover the front opening, the closure panel having a central transparent face panel. A concave translucent diffuser panel is located between the face panel and the light source so that the curvature of the concave diffuser panel extends toward the light source to define a second compartment between the diffuser panel and the face panel. VELCRO fastening means locate and retain the poster in the second compartment spaced between the closure panel and the concave diffuser panel. Vent openings communicate with the second compartment for the circulation of air around the poster.
