Abstract: A recording apparatus records an image by relatively moving a recording head with respect to a recording sheet. When a recording sheet is conveyed by rotating a LF roller in accordance with recording operation at the recording position during the recording of a current recording sheet, it is determined whether or not recording for a next recording sheet is necessary. In the case of that recording for the next recording medium is necessary, the next recording sheet is fed by rotating the feed roller for the amount corresponding to the conveyance distance by rotation of the LF roller, in synchronization with the conveyance of the current recording sheet by rotation of the LF roller.

Abstract: An image forming system includes a sheet accommodating section, an image forming section, a term management section, a detecting section, and a display section. The sheet accommodating section has a plurality of sheet trays each accommodating therein printing sheets with advertisement. The term management section has stored therein information on a term of validity of the advertisement as advertisement term information connected with a sheet tray. The detecting section detects whether or not the advertisement is currently valid, based on the advertisement term information. Also, the detecting section determines during printing whether or not the term of validity of the advertisement on the printing sheets accommodated in a sheet tray being used in printing has expired. The display section displays information that a sheet tray other than the sheet tray being used is present which accommodates therein printing sheets each carrying an advertisement which is currently valid, if any.

Abstract: Images are printed on surfaces of discrete objects that are loaded onto an upstream end of a production path passing through a plurality of treatment stations and taken off a downstream end the path. The path passes through a plurality of treatment stations and is split at least one of the stations into a plurality of generally parallel lanes each having a respective treatment device or printer. At the one treatment station the objects are split up and fed to the lanes from the path, the images are printed on the objects in the lanes with the respective printers, and all the objects are returned to the path after printing. The objects move single-file downstream along the path upstream and downstream of the one station. Instead of printers, each lane can have some other type of treatment machine and the operations performed by these treatment machines in the lanes can be the same or different.

A detection device recognizes when the feeding roll is about to run out of paper, whereupon the paper feeding task is automatically switched to the other roll. An operator only needs to service a printer station before both rolls of paper run out in order to prevent a downtime. One embodiment is directed to apparatus for supplying paper to a printer disposed to receive paper from either a first or a second paper roll. The apparatus comprises first and second roller sets corresponding to first and second paper rolls, respectively, each roller set being operable when receiving power to supply paper from its corresponding paper roll to the printer. The apparatus further comprises a single power source, and a power delivery mechanism for adapting the first and second roller sets to receive power from the source during first and second operating modes, respectively, of the mechanism.

Abstract: In a conventional printing apparatus with a plurality of paper feed ports, since a paper type limits the paper feed port usable for paper feed, a user must know in advance a paper feed port to set a paper sheet. This arrangement is not user-friendly. A printing apparatus according to the present invention, however, holds table information indicating the correspondence between paper types and paper feed ports usable for paper feed. When a paper type is designated together with input print data, information on a paper feed port usable for paper feed is acquired from the table information. A message is displayed to prompt the user to set a paper sheet on the paper feed port usable for paper feed so that the user can set an appropriate paper sheet.
