Brush Applicator Patents (Class 401/129)
  • Patent number: 6296411
Abstract: The brush (1) includes a core (2) formed from a metal wire bent into a U and the branches of which are twisted to trap radial bristles (3) between them, the core (2) being fixed to the end of a wand (6). The branches of the core are twisted, turning to the left, to form turns which turn in the clockwise direction about the axis (X) of the core when progressing from the wand towards the end of the brush, whereas the bristles (3) of the brush form helical layers (S) rising from left to right in the area located between the core and an observer who holds the brush substantially vertical in front of him/her with its tip pointing upwards.

  • Patent number: 6295994
Abstract: A mascara applicator is disclosed that comprises a conventional twisted wire core brush with a plurality of radially extending bristles regularly disposed in a first orientation. A cylindrically configured helix is twisted onto the brush around the wire core such that the brush bristles extend radially between successive loops of the helix. The helix moves at least some of the bristles to a second orientation such that one or more characteristics of the brush may be altered. Characteristics of the original brush that may be altered include mascara retention, mascara application and combing characteristics, as well as the appearance of the brush. The dimensions of the helix, the pitch of the helix and the thickness of the helix body are each pre-selected to yield the desired characteristics in the finished brush.

  • Patent number: 6287034
Abstract: A container for pasty cosmetic product permits access to a larger percentage of the contained product. The hollow container has a wall that defines an internal chamber. At least a portion of the wall is flexible. A neck provides access to the internal chamber. An applicator projects into the container and is attached to a cap which closes the container about the neck. Otherwise inaccessible product is deposited on the applicator by squeezing the flexible portions of the container wall, thereby avoiding waste of product adhered to the innerternal surface of the container.

  • Patent number: 6033142
Abstract: An applicator unit for a liquid or semi-liquid product that wipes excess product from the stem and applicator. The excess product is wiped by a sleeve through which the applicator charged with the product is caused to pass. The sleeve is open at its two ends, and having an internal surface capable of retaining a reserve of the product by the surface tension effect. The force of the surface tension exerted between the sleeve and the product contained therein is greater than the force of the surface tension exerted between the free end of the applicator and the product. Thus, excess product remains in the sleeve and not on the applicator.

  • Patent number: 6024507
Abstract: An assembly (1) for packaging and applying a product, especially a cosmetic product, includes a reservoir (2) formed of a body (3) surmounted by a neck (12) having a free edge which delimits an opening (18) and a cap element (17) capable of removably capping the opening (18). The cap element (17) forms a member by which to grasp an applicator (22), secured to a first end (21) of a connecting member (20) whose second end (19) is secured to the cap element (17). Abstract: An applicator or brush having a twisted wire core and a bristle portion that has a square cross-section. The brush portion is formed from a plurality of plastic filaments. Each plastic filament is crimped medially of its ends by the wire core. The crimping action causes the filament ends to form bristle ends that flare outwardly in various directions from the wire core so as to provides a uniform bristle end distribution throughout the bristle portion. The filament density is about 45 to 60 filaments per helical turn. Each filament has a hollow central core from which two or more bent flanges extend. The area along the central core between adjacent flanges holds mascara by surface tension.
