The branches of the core are twisted, turning to the left, to form turns which turn in the clockwise direction about the axis (X) of the core when progressing from the wand towards the end of the brush, whereas the bristles (3) of the brush form helical layers (S) rising from left to right in the area located between the core and an observer who holds the brush substantially vertical in front of him/her with its tip pointing upwards.

Abstract: A mascara applicator is disclosed that comprises a conventional twisted wire core brush with a plurality of radially extending bristles regularly disposed in a first orientation. A cylindrically configured helix is twisted onto the brush around the wire core such that the brush bristles extend radially between successive loops of the helix. The helix moves at least some of the bristles to a second orientation such that one or more characteristics of the brush may be altered. Characteristics of the original brush that may be altered include mascara retention, mascara application and combing characteristics, as well as the appearance of the brush. The dimensions of the helix, the pitch of the helix and the thickness of the helix body are each pre-selected to yield the desired characteristics in the finished brush.

Abstract: The process according to the invention comprises twisting a plastically deformable wire, typically of metal, so that it imprisons fibers within it, with the parts of the fibers projecting from the wire forming bristles in a helicoidal spiral, and of shaving off some of the bristles in predefined angular sectors by using the twisted wire to guide the components causing the total or partial ablation of the bristles.

Abstract: A container for pasty cosmetic product permits access to a larger percentage of the contained product. The hollow container has a wall that defines an internal chamber. At least a portion of the wall is flexible. A neck provides access to the internal chamber. An applicator projects into the container and is attached to a cap which closes the container about the neck. Otherwise inaccessible product is deposited on the applicator by squeezing the flexible portions of the container wall, thereby avoiding waste of product adhered to the innerternal surface of the container.

Abstract: A self cleaning dip in package is disclosed. The package includes a vial having an opening through which a user may access liquid stored within the vial. The opening is defined by an inner wall of the vial which provides access to the contents of the package. The package also includes an applicator adapted for insertion within the open end of the vial to access the liquid stored within the vial, wherein the applicator is coupled to a handle and the handle is selectively coupled to the vial for storing the liquid within the vial. The package further includes a first wiper coupled within the opening of the vial such that the applicator is wiped of excess liquid when the applicator is withdrawn from within the vial and a second wiper coupled to the handle such that the second wiper wipes the inner wall of the open end of the vial as the applicator is inserted into the vial. A process for filling the package and a venting system are also disclosed.

Abstract: A self cleaning dip in package is disclosed. The package includes a vial having an opening through which a user may access liquid stored within the vial. The opening is defined by an inner wall of the vial which provides access to the contents of the package. The package also includes an applicator adapted for insertion within the open end of the vial to access the liquid stored within the vial, wherein the applicator is coupled to a handle and the handle is selectively coupled to the vial for storing the liquid within the vial. The package further includes a first wiper coupled within the opening of the vial such that the applicator is wiped of excess liquid when the applicator is withdrawn from within the vial and a second wiper coupled to the handle such that the second wiper wipes the inner wall of the open end of the vial as the applicator is inserted into the vial. A process for filling the package and a venting system are also disclosed.

In addition, the degree of aperture of the remover 13 is not influenced by the operation of putting or removing a cap 3. A plurality of annular members (e.g., disks, sleeves, rings, beads, etc.) are each individually formed by, for example, molding. Each annular member has a central bore. At least some of the plurality of annual members are flocked, preferably on an outwardly directed surface, with fibers of a desired diameter, hardness, flexibility, length and composition (material). The remaining annular members may not be flocked, or may be flocked with fibers having one or more characteristics different from the fibers used on the first group, e.g., a different diameter, hardness, flexibility, length or composition, or a combination thereof. Alternatively, each annular member of the second group may be flocked on a surface different from the surface flocked on each annular member of the first group.

Abstract: An arrangement for applying a liquid or viscous product, comprising a reservoir (4) including a neck (8) and a cap (6) carrying an applicator member (20) which, in the storage position, is immersed in the product contained in this reservoir. The neck includes a base (10) and an upper end (13). The upper end of the neck has a profile such that, when the applicator member is wrung out on this end, the wrung-out product flows essentially down the internal wall (21) of the reservoir. For this purpose, the upper edge of the neck is sharp.

Abstract: An improved toothbrush is disclosed having a supply of liquid dentifrice located within the handle of the toothbrush, and a dispenser mechanism for dispensing the stored dentrifice to the bristles of the toothbrush when the need arises. The dentrifice-dispensing toothbrush is adapted to utilize replaceable, dentrifice-storing cartridges. In another preferred embodiment a dentrifice-dispensing toothbrush is provided which is effective in operation, durable, attractive in appearance, and relatively inexpensive to manufacture.

Abstract: Individual orthodontic bracket doses of bracket adhesive are dispensed onto a flat resilient card and enclosed under a vapor proof cover sealed to the card. The cover is peeled off at chairside and individual orthodontic brackets pick up the individual doses of adhesive by a wiping of the adhesive doses by the orthodontist as the brackets are mounted on a patient's teeth. The card deforms to conform to the curvature of the edge of the appliance to cleanly transfer all of the adhesive of a dose from the card to the appliance base. On dose of adhesive is preferably provided for each tooth of a patient receiving a full set of orthodontic appliances. The individual doses are preferably divided into a bead of a basic dose with two small fractional supplemental dose beads to provide the orthodontist with the option of increasing the amount of adhesive on a given appliance.

Abstract: A swab dispenser comprising a bin adapted to store swabs, a fluid reservoir, and optionally, a cover. The bin may be compartmentalized. The reservoir ceiling has a depression in its outer surface and an aperture at the low point of the depression. A membrane covers the aperture. The membrane has at least two intersecting slits that allows a swab to be inserted into the reservoir by temporarily deforming the membrane. Preferably, the slits extend completely across the aperture. Preferably, the floor of the reservoir is concave with the low point directly below the aperture.

Abstract: A cosmetic container comprises an insert which is preassembled to a brush by means of an undercut ring located beneath a brush flange and cooperating with an undercut recess in the throat of the insert. The insert walls are held by friction in the container and anchored externally to the container by a ring which extends peripherally from the threaded container wall. An undercut in the insert external flange engages the ring to complete the anchor. The insert is molded from polymer that repels the cosmetic product owing to molecular polarity. The insert functions as a sealing mechanism and a means to keep product from reaching the top of the container or on the container threads. The insert walls may also be shaped as a liquid inhibitor to retard flow from the container if the bottle is tipped over inadvertently.

The container has a neck that provides access to the internal chamber. An applicator projects into the container and is attached to a cap that closes the container about the neck. Squeezing the flexible wall portion of the container permits the user to deposit product onto the applicator that would otherwise be inaccessible, thereby avoiding waste of product adhered to the inner wall of the container. This permits access by the consumer to a larger percentage of the contained product than has typically been possible in the traditional container.

Abstract: A compact article for oral care comprises a housing and a tooth brush section. The housing has a first opening, a second opening, a third opening, a front end, a rear end, and a cavity communicating with the first, second and third openings. The first opening is formed through the front end and a conventional tooth paste tube having a neck is inserted through the third opening into the cavity. The tooth paste tube can be squeezed through the second opening to allow a desired amount of the tooth paste to flow out of the neck. The tooth brush section has a base, a first extension, a second extension, a connecting rod and a brush. The first extension is protruded in a decremental step from the base to a forward direction, and the second extension is protruded in a decremental step from the base to a rearward direction opposed to the first extension.

Abstract: A bottle having a container and a specially formed neck having a flange with downwardly sloping portion and which is spaced from the container to create a recess between the flange and the container. The bottle cap has an inner shell and an outer shell. A sealing surface moves longitudinally within the inner shell. The outer shell is preferably flexible and has prongs facing inwardly to move outwardly when the outer shell is compressed by a person's fingers. Other embodiments lack a separate inner shell and employ different operation of the prongs to retain the cap. In one case, rotation of the cap brings these prongs beneath a set of blind slots which engage the prongs and restrain their upward motion. Another embodiment allows the prongs to pass through slots to engage the underside of the flange. Further embodiments have a pressure release buttons built into the cap and a protective cap placed over the outer cap.

Abstract: A device for dispensing a fluid. The device includes a container with a base, a plurality of side walls connecting thereto and an upper wall. The container has two closable outlet openings arranged on oppositely located sides. An applicator is placeable in one of the openings, while the other opening has a protruding needle-like dispensing member. The base of the container is situated between the outlets. In this dispensing device, when the needle-like dispensing member is placed on a surface, the outlet with the applicator is situated above the level of the fluid present in the container, whereby leakage out of this outlet opening is impossible.

Abstract: A system for applying adhesive to the peripheral edge of a window glass includes a brush which is held stationary while the window glass is moved with respect to the brush to apply the adhesive. The brush includes a plastic sleeve which exposes only a specified portion of the bristles of the brush. After the bristles have worn, the brush is moved to a cutting station where a portion of the sleeve is removed to expose another portion of the bristles. This operation continues until there is no material left on the sleeve to trim. At this point, the brush is discarded and replaced with a new brush automatically. Rather than have the window glass move with respect to the brush, the brush can be moved with respect to the window glass if desired.

The pen head is received in the adaptor and has an open first end and a second end with a hollow tip portion that extends outwardly through the second end of the adaptor. The brush member has a rod with first and second end portions. The first end portion of the rod extends into the resilient tube and has bristles connected thereto. The second end of the rod is connected to the first end of the adaptor and is inserted into the first end of the pen head. The second end of the rod has at least one passage formed therein in order to communicate fluidly the resilient tube and the pen head.

The open end of this tube is integrally secured to the neck. The container has a sample quantity of cosmetic product disposed therein. The applicator is disposed within the container and neck with the device engaging the sample and the rod extending within the tube.

Abstract: An applicator unit for a liquid or semi-liquid product that wipes excess product from the stem and applicator. The excess product is wiped by a sleeve through which the applicator charged with the product is caused to pass. The sleeve is open at its two ends, and having an internal surface capable of retaining a reserve of the product by the surface tension effect. The force of the surface tension exerted between the sleeve and the product contained therein is greater than the force of the surface tension exerted between the free end of the applicator and the product. Thus, excess product remains in the sleeve and not on the applicator.

The filament density is about 45 to 60 filaments per helical turn. Each filament has a hollow central core from which two or more bent flanges extend. A screwing section is provided on the other end of the sleeve member, and an engraving needle is provided to protrude outwardly of the front end of the screwing section. After the enamel on the nails has been air-dried, the engraving needle is used to engrave various designs or characters on the enamel on the nails so as to make the nails look vivid, and shining.

Abstract: An applicator for temporarily masking stains on clothing includes a canister having an chamber for containing fluid, a water based, stain masking solution disposed within the chamber of the canister, and a brush or a spray head applying the stain masking solution from the chamber of the canister on a stain requiring masking. The stain masking solution covers the stain so that the stain is substantially concealed. The canister has an elongate annular wall having an open end at one end thereof, and an end wall closing the other end of the annular wall. Preferably, the stain masking solution consists of: resin--approximately 10.0 percent by weight; isopropanol--approximately 15.0 percent by weight; water--approximately 55.0 percent by weight; titanium dioxide--approximately 15.0 percent by weight; and ammonia--approximately 5.0 percent by weight.

Abstract: A mascara container has a bottle for receiving a supply of mascara and defining a bottle neck and opening. A cap is removably secured to the bottle neck at a closure end of the cap, the cap having a comb end extending from the closure end to a top end of the cap and defining a comb slot therebetween. An applicator is mounted to the closure end of the cap and extends through the bottle opening when the cap is secured on the bottle neck. A comb has teeth sized for combing eyelashes, and the comb pivotally mounted to the comb end of the cap for pivotal movement between a closed position with the teeth stored in the comb slot and an open position with the teeth deployed for combing action. The comb is removably retained in the comb slot by snap engagement and is provided with an extending grip for manipulating the comb.

Abstract: A container for a free-flowing product, in particular a correcting fluid, has an opening provided with a removable closure cap with an integrated brush-shaped applicator. A sleeve-shaped stripper is positioned in the opening and includes stripping strips whose ends are elastically supported against each other and at least partially close the open cross section of the stripper. Product is perfectly dosed from the container even over a long time and losses of the volatile fraction of the product in the container are largely avoided when opening the container and removing product therefrom, via a brush-shaped applicator provided in the area of its stem with a continuous notch in which the free ends of the stripping strips are engaged when the closure cap is installed on the container.
