Abstract: An advancing antiseptic marking pen in which a barrel of the pen holds a plurality of antiseptic/marking tips. The tips contain a colored antiseptic substance. When an indicated area on the patient's body is cleansed, the area remains marked by the antiseptic/colorant fluid chosen so that the user of the pen can clearly ascertain the indicated area. A protective cap fits over the open end of the pen to prevent bacteria and other contaminants from contaminating the antiseptic/marking tips. When the pen is to be used, the operator must of course first remove the protective cap. The operator then depresses and slides an advancing tab on a top side of the barrel of the pen to advance an antiseptic/marking tip to an in-use position. After the indicated area is highlighted, cleansed, and simultaneously marked, the operator again depresses and slides the advancing tab to eject the used tip. The inner tube is movable relative to the outer tube. An upper half portion of the inner tube is enlarged by fitting a squeezing tube such that a spring can be positioned below the squeezing tube. When the inner tube is shifted, a lower portion of a spring pushes a lowest lead to a chucking device by which the lead is tightly gripped. A push plate attached to the slot of the outer tube has a squeezing portion engaged with the last coil of the spring. Sliding the push plate upward can pull the lower portion of the spring out of the inner tube. The propelled lead can be retracted into the inner tube and the inner tube can be pulled back and enclosed completely by the outer tube.

Abstract: The tubular main body of a writing instrument has a cylinder the writing end of which is formed to include a cap-fitting portion. A gripping portion, which is formed on the cylinder below the cap-fitting portion, has an outer peripheral surface provided with a number of annular slip-preventing grooves. A cap detachably fitted on the cap-fitting portion of the cylinder includes a clip extending axially to a point in the vicinity of the gripping portion. The clip has an engaging projection formed on an underside thereof for engaging one of the slip-preventing grooves of the gripping portion when the cap is attached. When the writing instrument is clipped to the fabric on the outer side of a shirt or jacket pocket, the engaging projection on the clip and the slip-preventing groove of the gripping portion on the cylinder of the tubular main body engage each other via the fabric clamped between them.

The inner cylinder has a conical flange projected radially to retain the sliding retractor when the elastic hook is pushed away so as to restrain displacement of the inner cylinder and the pencil lead can be retracted into the inner cylinder first.

The central bore of the elongated tube includes an upper section as well as a lower section the diameter of which is smaller than that of the upper section. The lower section is provided with a plurality of radial grooves extended from the lower section for the purpose of receiving the leads. A lead supplying rod is rotatably fitted in the lower section of the central bore. The lead supplying rod has a through bore connected with the clamping device and a slot radially extended from the through bore thereof. The slot of the lead supplying rod communicates with one of the grooves of the tube and permits the leads to singly enter the through bore.

Abstract: A mechanical pencil comprising a lead feed mechanism built within the body thereof and a lead guide connected to the lead feed mechanism and having a cartridge reception bore of a diameter which is practically the same as the inside diameter of the body, wherein a cartridge containing a plurality of leads and having an outside diameter which is practically the same as the inside diameter of the body and the inside diameter of the cartridge reception bore of the lead guide is detachably fitted in the cartridge reception bore of the lead guide. In replenishing the mechanical pencil with leads, an old cartridge is replaced with a new cartridge.

Abstract: This invention relates to a writing implement comprising an outer casing, a coil spring disposed within the casing, an inner tube inserted through the coil spring and having a plurality of presharpened pieces of pencil lead stored therewithin, and a capping member fitted over the open end of the inner tube. The lower (writing) portion of the inner tube is split into two clamping halves. The lower end of the coil spring is formed into a hook which slides along the slot formed between the clamping halves to allow the expelling and feeding of presharpened pieces of pencil lead into the space between said two clamping halves.

Abstract: A coloring pen assembly comprising a tubular barrel open at one end and holding at the other end a porous nib having a marking tip, an extended portion lying within the barrel, and saturated with soluble coloring matter. For activation, a porous plug fitting loosely within the barrel and snugly around the extended portion of the nib is saturated with a liquid solvent, e.g. water, and is inserted through the open end of the barrel and pressed into place.
