Abstract: A chuck (4) for grasping a writing lead and a rotor (6) arranged to be movable in a direction of rotation and an axial direction within a body cylinder (1) are provided. By axial movement of the rotor in conjunction with writing operation, the rotor rotates and the writing lead is also subjected to rotational movement. The writing lead can be inched out of the chuck by way of knock operation of the knock cover (26) arranged at a rear end port ion of the body cylinder. A separation part having a gap (G) is formed at any location along a knock operation transmitting path between the above-mentioned knock cover and the above-mentioned chuck, the separation part transmits the above-mentioned knock operation to the above-mentioned chuck and inhibits rotation operation from being transmitted. According to the above-mentioned structure, as the rotor and the knock cover are separated in a direction of rotation, it is possible to solve the problem of placing an obstacle to a rotational drive mechanism.

The central bore of the elongated tube includes an upper section as well as a lower section the diameter of which is smaller than that of the upper section. The lower section is provided with a plurality of radial grooves extended from the lower section for the purpose of receiving the leads. A lead supplying rod is rotatably fitted in the lower section of the central bore. The lead supplying rod has a through bore connected with the clamping device and a slot radially extended from the through bore thereof. The slot of the lead supplying rod communicates with one of the grooves of the tube and permits the leads to singly enter the through bore.

  • Patent number: 4919556
Abstract: A useful writing implement which comprises an outer casing and an inner tube inserted into the outer casing for storing a plurality of presharpened leads. The outer casing has an intregrally formed protrudent flexible elongated reduced neck portion for releasably engaging an upper enlarged portion of the inner tube. The neck portion is integrally formed with a lateral triangular flat protrustion for partially covering the upper enlarged portion of the inner tube for preventing the presharpened leads from slipping out of the inner tube. The outer casing is integrally formed with a dependent leg for insertion into a longitudianl slot provided at the lower end of the inner tube, the leg being integrally formed with an inward hook-shaped portion which will be forced to extend into the slot and slide on a longitudinal slide side wall provided at the upper end of the slot, to allow the leads to fall down when the inner tube is moved downward.

  • Patent number: 4915521
Abstract: A mechanical pencil includes a tube-like housing having lead cavities annularly provided around an operating central rod. Leads from the cavities are discharged into a lead guiding passage through a rotary lead discharge member which is provided above the lead guiding passages and has a lead discharge passage. The lead discharge member is cooperatively associated with the rod so as to turn, upon depression of the rod, between a first position in which the lead enters the lead discharge passage from one of the lead cavities and a second position in which the lead enters the lead guide passage from the lead discharge passage.

  • Patent number: 4854761
Abstract: An improved nail polish removing wand comprising an elongated tubular device containing a stack of absorbent pads that are driven toward an open end of the tubular device by selective operator manipulation of the wand. The forward pad in the stack is moved to the end of the tubular device where it is held until ejected by a flange at the open end of the wand that cooperates with the geometric configuration of the pad. After the pad is used for removing nail polish, it is ejected by further manipulative action of the wand by the operator.
