Blocker For Assembled Joint Retainer Patents (Class 403/316)
  • Patent number: 3994140
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a coupling assembly which serves to connect a pipelaying stinger to a pipelaying vessel and is of the type wherein laterally spaced, disconnectable joints interconnect the stinger and vessel. The spaced joints are each comprised of a tapered male member and a mating female member, normally a pin and receptacle, and are preferably axially aligned to form a hinge which permits the stinger to rotate about a horizontal axis. When the two spaced joints are both engaged the stinger is prevented from rotating in a non-axial manner. However, when one joint is disengaged, the other will disengage as the male and female members rotate about their rotational point of contact.

  • Patent number: 3992119
Abstract: Apparatus for connecting one shaft to another shaft wherein one of the shafts to be coupled has a plurality of splines or grooves around the periphery thereof, an intermediate portion of the spline shaft having the splines removed. A housing is adapted to be connected to the other shaft of the coupling and has a central opening therein with splines and grooves around the periphery thereof to mate with the splines and grooves of the first mentioned shaft. A sleeve, also having complimentary splines and grooves therein, is rotatably received within the interior of the housing adjacent the inner end of the splined and grooved section of the housing opening. A pin extends through a hole in the housing and the pin is linked to the sleeve, whereby movement of the pin effects rotary movement of the sleeve. The pin, and thereby the sleeve, is biased to a first position, whereby the splines and grooves of the sleeve are misaligned with the splines and grooves of the opening in the housing.

  • Patent number: 3982842
Abstract: A male member is connected to a female member by providing a rolling location element between a wall of the male member and a relatively inclined cooperative wall of the female member and biasing the location element into a position in which, should any attempt be made to remove the male member from the bore of the female member, a wedging action is obtained which prevents removal of the male member.

  • Patent number: 3955441
Abstract: A push-pull cable mounting assembly including a mounting member having a hole and an opening contiguous to the hole. A cable is disposed in the hole and is insertable therein by moving it through the opening which is larger than the hole itself. The cable has spaced-apart shoulders which engage opposite sides of the mounting member and thereby longitudinally restrict the movement of the cable casing. A plug is disposed in the opening adjacent the hole and thereby prevents the cable from moving out of the hole.

  • Patent number: 3936203
Abstract: A pivot pin or the like is retained in an aperture in a supporting structure by a removable locking element inserted by movement transverse to the axis of the pin into a position lying between one end of the pin and a fixed flange-like retaining element which is secured to the supporting structure adjacent the aperture. In the illustrated embodiments the end of the pin is partially cut away so as to form a notch for receiving the locking element.
