  • Patent number: 10053382
Abstract: An over grate filter for covering a grate and filtering storm water runoff is claimed and described. The over grate filter of the invention helps to control the flow of waterborne sediment and pollutants into the storm water grate, and it also serves to reduce the amount of sediment entering drainage systems. The invention may be fabricated from any filtration fabrics, including woven and non-woven fabrics. The selection of the specific filter fabric used in the invention depends on the anticipated storm water flow velocities, the anticipated pollutant volume and the expected maintenance schedule. The over grate filter of the invention may comprise multiple layers of filter material and a supporting inner core that enables the filter to lie flat on the storm water grate, providing improved wear resistance against foot and vehicle traffic and street sweeping activity over the prior art methods for filtering storm water.

  • Patent number: 9260853
Abstract: A runoff water vault may be divided into an input chamber which receives runoff water and a second chamber which also separates and stores buoyant and non-buoyant materials separated from the runoff water stream. While the separators in such systems remove particles of different densities than water quite well, they have difficulty in removing neutrally buoyant debris. Screens are added into the water flow stream to catch and remove particles of neutral buoyancy. The screens are mounted in a manner which permits lateral movement of the screen relative to the water flow, such as shaking and/or flexing. Screen movement imparts pressure differential across the screen perforations releasing debris trapped against the screen, so that the debris will fall into an entrainment area and allow increased flow through the screen. The screens may also include one or more turbulator fins for intersecting the water flow and transferring energy to the screen, imparting lateral movement to the screen.

The culvert includes at least one fixed basic component and at least one deformation component sliding in the basic component in the direction of the longitudinal ditch axis (1) and covered by a deformable decking or also by backfilling or other cover. The substance of the invention lies in the fact the basic component consists of a set of prefabricated concrete or reinforced concrete beds (2) formed in “V”-shape and placed one after another on the concrete base (3) in the road ditch (1) so that the shoulders (2a, 2b) of the beds (2) abut the ditch walls (1). Both shoulders (2a, 2b) of each bed (2) are fitted with opposite guiding recess (4) in the upper part for placement of deformation components formed by a set of at least two lateral rigid girders (5) installed with the possibility of the sliding movement in the direction of the longitudinal ditch axis (1).

Abstract: An impact absorption panel is adapted for playground use and comprises a panel section and a plurality of projections. The panel section is defined by a top surface and a bottom surface. The plurality of projections extend from the bottom surface of the panel section. The plurality of projections have a first stage and a second stage. The first stage is configured to collapse initially when subjected to an impact load. The second stage is configured to provide greater resistance to the impact load than the first stage. The panel section is configured to provide greater resistance to the impact load than the first and second stages. The first stage can also be distinguished from the second stage by virtue of having a comparatively smaller volume.

Abstract: Embodiments of a restrictor plate assembly are disclosed that are adapted for being installed into a curb box hood for restricting particulate flow through an inlet mouth of the hood and into a cavity of the hood. An exemplary assembly can include a lengthwise proximate member and a lengthwise distal member which slide lengthwise against each other for increasing a length of the restrictor plate assembly, so that the proximate member can engage a widthwise proximate internal side wall of the hood, and the distal member engages a widthwise distal internal side wall of the hood; thereby securing the restrictor plate assembly within the hood.

Abstract: A screen system having first and second side members, each having a locking gear reversibly movable from a locked position to an unlocked position. A screen is coupled to the side members. The screen has openings and is rotatable from a closed position to an open position. The screen is engagable with the locking gears to preventing the screen from rotating from the closed position to the open position. A trigger plate is movably coupled to the screen, rotates from a first position to a second position and is engagable with the locking gears to prevent the locking gears from moving from the locked position to the unlocked position.
