  • Patent number: 7967523
Abstract: A trench drain assembly including a flow channel and a frame for supporting the channel in a trench. Sidewalls of the frame have a gradually increasing height between ends of the frame so that the frame creates a gradual slope for the assembly to properly drain. In addition, sidewalls of the frame include spaced lugs that extend outwardly and sidewalls of the channel include spaced lugs that extend inwardly to create an interference fit with the lugs of the frame so that the channel can be easily attached to the frame. During assembly, the frame is lowered onto the channel so that the lugs of the frame are received between the lugs of the channels and the frame is then slid with respect to the channel until the lugs of the frame are positioned below the lugs of the channel to secure the frame to the channel.

  • Patent number: 7563364
Abstract: A modular curb inlet filter apparatus having an internal axial tube member on which are disposed at least two disc spacers, which in turn support a cylindrical mesh frame member, which in turn supports a tubular filter fabric. Wedge anchors composed preferably of a compressible polymer foam are provided with anchor bores of sufficient diameter to receive the ends of the cylindrical mesh frame member therein, the anchor bores being disposed near the base of the wedge anchors such that the curb inlet filter inlet apparatus will be seated close to surface of the curb inlet base when positioned within the curb inlet. Preferably the wedge anchors are provided with a base scuff plate made of a durable polymer material to prolong their use life. A short silt flap or skirt depends from the filter fabric, the silt flap extending the approximately the length of the curb inlet filter apparatus to seal any gap beneath the curb inlet filter apparatus and the base of the curb inlet.

  • Patent number: 7556450
Abstract: The invention relates to a water collecting structure 1 capable of positively capturing flowing water which may form a shooting flow. The water collecting structure 1 of the invention includes: a guide member 23 including a water channeling surface 23a inclined at a greater angle than that of a water-flow slope of a water-flow surface; and a plurality of flow straightening plates 24 extended along a flow direction of the guide member 23 and juxtaposed in a direction orthogonal to the flow direction. The flow straightening plate 24 includes a planar or curved lateral side 24a which cooperates with the water channeling surface 23a to define a substantially rectangular small channel S and which stands vertically to the water channeling surface 23a or inclined relative to the water channeling surface to widen the small channel toward top.

  • Patent number: 7540953
Abstract: The invention relates to an integrated belowground vault with filter catch basin, that allows the runoff water to enter into a belowground two-part vault passing through a commercially available replaceable filter before being transferred out to the sewer, Rood control system or out through a French drain consisting of a cavity below the device that is filled with drain gravel. A layer of filter cloth can optionally be placed over the drain gravel. This device will be manufactured in variety of sizes and shapes and made from several different materials. The device has the unique ability of being capable of filtering low flow water runoff while allowing high volume to pass through with the added benefit of not retaining water that can become a mosquito breeding ground.

Abstract: A first filter basket (20) sits down into a catch basin (10) and has an upper flange (24) that rests on a shoulder (14) provided in the catch basin (10) for supporting a grate (16). The filter basket (20) has expanded metal side and bottom walls which are adapted to pass liquid and catch particulate material larger in size than the wall openings. A geo-textile liner (42) is optionally positioned inside of the filter basket (20). The liner (42) is supported on a lower rim flange (26). Posts (40) on the rim flange (26) extend upwardly through openings (66) in marginal portions of the liner (42). A smaller second filter basket (72) is optionally supported inside the larger first filter basket (20). An absorbent pillow (90) may be positioned between the bottoms of the two filter baskets (20, 72) to catch and absorb oils and greases that are in the liquid that enters the catch basin (10).

  • Publication number: 20090067922
Abstract: A device for restricting flow through a curb inlet opening defined in a street storm drain by secure positioning a face plate extending thereover. Multiple flow slots are defined extending through the face plate to allow limited flow therethrough. The face plate is securable to the drain by mounting apparatus which includes one or more mounting brackets along with an engagement device attachable to the flow limiting slots and the brackets to hold the face plate in position extending over the curb inlet opening. Mounting brackets can have teeth for engaging storm drain for enhanced securement therewith. The flow restricting slots are preferably radially arranged with respect to one another and can include lateral slots further engageable with the mounting bracket to prevent rotation thereof during tightening thereof. Conical washers can extend over the head of mounting bolts for protection thereof.

  • Patent number: 7494585
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for maximizing the blockage of fluid borne solid materials from passage through a catch basin into the downstream parts of a fluid flow channel, with minimum impact on the volume and rate of fluid passing through the channel. The apparatus comprises at least one filter sheet secured within the catch basin at a location above and covering a large proportion of the floor of the catch basin, an overflow wall separating the filter area from an unfiltered overflow area, and a diverter for directing incoming trash away from the overflow area and to the filter side of the overflow wall. Although the apparatus covers a large area within the catch basin, the overflow wall, overflow area, and clearance between the filter sheet(s) and the floor provide sufficient space for fluid and excess trash to pass in the event the capacity of the apparatus for holding them is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 7491338
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method, using the apparatus, for blocking the passage of solid materials into or through a channel while permitting the passage of fluid; automatically releasing the blocked solid materials under predetermined conditions when priority is given to maximizing the passage of fluid; automatically re-closing after the accumulated solid materials have passed downstream, and resuming the blocking of solid materials; and, repeating the process upon recurrence of the predetermined conditions. Although the invention relates to street storm-water drainage channels, particularly inlets to catch basins, it can be applied to any fluid-flow channel where blocking the passage of solid materials is important but where there are conditions under which priority should be shifted from blocking the solid materials to releasing them downstream.
