Sidewalls of the frame have a gradually increasing height between ends of the frame so that the frame creates a gradual slope for the assembly to properly drain. In addition, sidewalls of the frame include spaced lugs that extend outwardly and sidewalls of the channel include spaced lugs that extend inwardly to create an interference fit with the lugs of the frame so that the channel can be easily attached to the frame. During assembly, the frame is lowered onto the channel so that the lugs of the frame are received between the lugs of the channels and the frame is then slid with respect to the channel until the lugs of the frame are positioned below the lugs of the channel to secure the frame to the channel.

When the first end 604 of a grate piece 602a is welded to the first end of an adjacent grate piece 602b, and the second end 605 of the grate piece 602a is welded to the second end of the adjacent grate piece 602b so as to form the grate 601, a gap is formed between the respective bodies of the grate pieces 602 to permit the drainage of liquid between the grate pieces. By varying the angles at which the grate pieces 602 are welded together sections of grate with both horizontal and vertical curvature can be formed.

  • Patent number: 7611304
Abstract: A catch basin curb inlet opening cover is a steel plate member which includes a main segment having at least one first opening whereby fluid may pass through said at least one first opening into the curb inlet opening when said plate member is positioned in its intended place, and a bend portion. The bend portion is formed from the main segment by deforming a respective section of the main segment. When in place across the curb inlet opening, the bend portion extends into the curb inlet opening. A respective surface of the bend portion is in sufficiently close proximity to either or both of the left edge or the right edge of the curb inlet opening so that the plate member will resist horizontal movement occasioned by being struck by a snow plow or other heavy duty street equipment. Adjusting means are described which adjust the length of the bend portion to accommodate different inlet openings. The main segment includes a further opening adapted to permit the viewing of a precautionary badge.

Abstract: A two-part grate assembly for a channeled drain trough. The grate assembly has a grate frame that receives a removable grate section. The grate frame has lugs with vertical projections extending therefrom that define securing recesses that assist in aligning and securing the grate frame atop a drain trough. Additionally, the present invention is directed to the use of an alignment bar that prevents the grate section from sliding out of operating position within the grate frame by restricting lateral movement of the grate section. Further, the present invention is directed to a method of providing a grate assembly for a channeled drain trough having a grate frame that is adapted to receive a removable grate section.

Abstract: A concrete structure for replenishing an aquifer and a method for constructing the same is provided. The structure is comprised of a pavement layer with surface drains that extend through the pavement layer and into an aggregate leach field. The leach field includes leach lines spanning the leach field. An aggregate drain extends from the leach field into a sand lens. Precipitation which falls upon the structure thus flows through the surface drain, absorbed into the aggregate leach field, and transported to the aggregate drains by way of aggregate leach lines. The water is then absorbed into the sand lens, ultimately replenishing the aquifer. Existing conventional pavement structures are retrofitted by the removal of a section of the pavement, and filling the same with porous concrete.

Abstract: A modular curb inlet filter apparatus having an internal axial tube member on which are disposed at least two disc spacers, which in turn support a cylindrical mesh frame member, which in turn supports a tubular filter fabric. Wedge anchors composed preferably of a compressible polymer foam are provided with anchor bores of sufficient diameter to receive the ends of the cylindrical mesh frame member therein, the anchor bores being disposed near the base of the wedge anchors such that the curb inlet filter inlet apparatus will be seated close to surface of the curb inlet base when positioned within the curb inlet. Preferably the wedge anchors are provided with a base scuff plate made of a durable polymer material to prolong their use life. A short silt flap or skirt depends from the filter fabric, the silt flap extending the approximately the length of the curb inlet filter apparatus to seal any gap beneath the curb inlet filter apparatus and the base of the curb inlet.
