Patent number: 8333333Abstract: A dust-control apparatus may be used in combination with tilling, cultivating, harvesting, construction machinery, and other mobile soil treatment implements. The apparatus applies mist to dust particles where the mist is created by pumping water or other liquid through nozzles. In one embodiment of the device, the operation of the pump or valves which control liquid flow to the nozzles is automatically activated by a optical sensor. The optical sensors cause either the starting of a pump or opening of a valve thereby increasing or decreasing the pressure and/or volume of the liquid upon the dust level reaching a preset trigger point as detected by the sensor.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2006Date of Patent: December 18, 2012Inventor: Lynn Embry

Publication number: 20120070228Abstract: A method of cold in-place recycling of asphalt to remediate distressed roads. Asphalt particles obtained by milling the existing asphalt are limited by screening to a maximum size of about one inch length. Asphalt particle size may be established by limiting tooth spacing of the road milling equipment milling head to about 5/16 inch or 8 millimeter spacing intervals. A predetermined proportion of portland cement, water, and asphalt emulsion are added to generate asphalt particles. Portland cement may be deposited onto the existing asphalt prior to milling. The resulting combination is mixed to generate a recycled mix, which may then be discharged onto the road being remediated and further processed, such as by screeding, compacting, and sealing.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 23, 2011Publication date: March 22, 2012Applicant: Gorman Bros. An implement first frame is supported rotatably on a rod extending orthogonally from the tractor. A rotatable tractor control mechanically connected to the implement first frame causes it to rotate on the rod, therein providing an implement adjustment in pitch and lifting and lowering the implement between a travel position and an operational position. The implement first frame connects pivotably to an implement second frame. A first hydraulic cylinder on the implement first frame parallel the rod connects to the implement second frame such that actuation of the first hydraulic cylinder causes the implement second frame to pivot about a second frame central axis therein providing the second frame an adjustment in roll. A grinding brush is mounted transversely to the implement second frame.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2002Date of Patent: May 20, 2003Assignee: Apply-A-Line, Inc.Inventor: Carey Gray

Patent number: 6439804Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the mixing of asphalt aggregate with rejuvenating materials in an asphalt rejuvenating machine. According to the method, milled aggregate is discharged in a windrow of fixed width, and windrow height is compared to rejuvenating machine speed to determine a volume rate of material being processed. A processor controller calculates a required amount of rejuvenating fluid addition based on the volume rate being processed and a desired proportion of rejuvenating fluid to aggregate. The processor controller controls a sprayer which directs rejuvenating fluid at some point along a zone extending from a milling apparatus to a mixer.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2000Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Inventor: Francesco A. Crupi

Patent number: 6416249Abstract: A blending apparatus which forms part of an asphalt pavement resurfacing machine has first and second stages. The first stage receives milled material through an inlet and blends the milled material with a rejuvenating fluid. The first stage has a transversely extending shaft from which paddles extend radially to blend the milled material with the rejuvenating fluid and direct it toward a first stage outlet. The second stage receives the blended material from the first stage outlet. The second stage has a respective shaft with mixing paddles extending radially therefrom to further blend the material and direct it toward a second stage outlet.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2000Date of Patent: July 9, 2002Inventor: Francesco A. Patent number: 6220782Abstract: A method and apparatus for altering an aggregate gradation mixture of an asphalt concrete mixture. The apparatus includes a heater for heating a layer of existing roadway materials, a milling and mixing auger for milling the heated layer of existing roadway materials and a hopper and conveyor for providing a predetermined amount of treated new usable aggregates to the milling and auger for mixing with the heated layer of existing roadway materials in order to produce a new asphalt concrete mixture. The auger including a plurality of milling bits extending therearound for receiving the predetermined amount of aggregates and mixing them with the milled layer of existing roadway materials, the milling bits are slanted to direct the aggregates received thereby and milled layer to a center line of the apparatus. A second auger is positioned along the center line of the apparatus and behind the auger for further mixing the new asphalt concrete mixture.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1999Date of Patent: April 24, 2001Inventor: Larry A.
