Curb Or Gutter Patents (Class 404/98)
  • Patent number: 3994611
Abstract: An apparatus for applying a longitudinal line or strip of marking material on a roadway which employs a fluid marking material and which provides spaced transverse strip areas of increased depth, the apparatus comprising a supply hopper for the marking material which opens at the rear to allow material to flow onto the roadway surface between spaced side edge defining members and a rear end plate member which is mounted for intermittent vertical reciprocation so as to provide for deposit of cross strips of the marking material which are of different depth or height. The end plate is also mounted for reciprocation longitudinally of the apparatus so as to push the marking material back into the hopper at the end of each section of the longitudinal strip.

  • Patent number: 3981603
Abstract: A barrier levelling tool intended to be attached to median barrier forming continuous casting machines which provides a reinforced chute-like extension bridging the cast barrier and trailing the casting machine and which is adjustable from the face of the barrier casting machine so as to gauge and screed the flow of concrete in a smooth manner and in elimination of unsightly dips and peaks and so as to provide a constantly level top surface fully screeded and complete as it leaves the trailing chute. The present invention is a barrier levelling attachment for levelling continuously cast barriers and which trails behind the extruder head or gate of the casting machine and confines and levels the crown or upper surfaces of the barrier in avoidance of previously experienced sudden dips and peaks and in unlevel upper surfaces. The structure is adjustable and is sufficiently rigidified as to provide a supplemental screeding and finish trowelling effect on the concrete barriers as they are continuously cast.

  • Patent number: 3969035
Abstract: A slip form paving machine for forming curbs, gutters, barriers and other structures in a continuous process. The machine is mounted on three steerable and individually powered wheels. The wheels are mounted on parallel linkages so that the frame can be raised and lowered relative to the wheels without changing the orientation of the steering axis, to permit and insure precise control. A wide variety of paving forms of different heights and widths can be used without modifying the machine. The engine and other heavy components are located in relation to the wheel mounting so that the frame is balanced and stable with the three wheel support. The operational components of the machine including a loading conveyor are stored within a standard frame width so that the unit can be transported over the road without special permits.

  • Patent number: 3957405
Abstract: A slip form or screed for forming elongated concrete formations, such as a highway barrier wall wherein a concrete receiving hopper is located forwardly of the slip form, and the front wall of the hopper is provided with a hinged gate pivotal between open and closed positions. The gate structure permits stationary objects to enter the hopper and slip form as to become a part of the formed concrete formation, and the gate structure includes concrete retaining means to confine the concrete when the gate is opened, and control the flow of concrete forwardly through the opening when stationary objects are received within the form.

  • Patent number: 3954359
Abstract: A curbing machine utilizing slip form casting of cement or concrete is disclosed which will continuously cast curbing or pavements and simultaneously with the casting operation provide the necessary expansion joints in the cast curbing. The curbing machine includes a conventional tractor with an additional speed reduction gear box. A unitary open bottom hopper and slip mold is removably and adjustably carried between the wheels of the tractor by hydraulic cylinders permitting both vertical and tilting adjustment of the mold to adjust the mold to the contour of the ground. Means are provided within the hopper and immediately in front of the slip mold to form the expansion joint in the cast curbing. In an alternate embodiment, the slip mold is mounted outboard of the tractor with hydraulic cylinders provided to raise, lower and tilt the slip mold.
