Abstract: A French drain style drainage system that resolves water infiltration problems is provided. The system includes French drain style pipes with flaps on both sides wherein a first row of perimeter pipes is laid at the foundation footing level with perforations at the bottom half of the pipe circumference, below the flap so that water below the footing will be collected and the flap which overlaps the foundation creates an effective seal preventing water from creeping upward. A second row of perimeter pipes located just under the ground surface also has flaps on both sides, wherein one flap makes contact with the side of the building and perforations are located on the upper half of the pipe, above the flaps so as to collect surface water. Joining the upper external flap to the lower external flap is a waterproof membrane which creates a dry zone between the two rows of perimeter pipes proximal to the house foundation.

  • Patent number: 10472813
Abstract: A subsurface fluid conveyance chamber is arch-shaped in cross-section, having a corrugated outer shell extending along a horizontal axis with a pair of contiguously molded end walls and alternating peak and valley corrugations along its length. Each peak corrugation forms an outer ridge having a top surface and a pair of sidewalls. Inner walls along each lateral side of the outer shell form interior chambers at each ridge location in the outer shell. Each interior chamber has an aperture formed in the inner wall, and two opposing apertures formed in each sidewall. The inner wall apertures are vertically offset above the outer shell apertures and form a gravity trap for the granular material, limiting entry to the lower section of the interior chambers. The angled pathways defined by the interior chamber aperture locations require directional changes in fluid flow that minimize contamination of the inner conveyance chamber during use.

Abstract: A subsoil methane collection and treatment system (10), which includes a subsoil distribution layer (13) for receiving methane, a subsoil biofilter layer (14) above the distribution layer which contains a biofilter (18) such as compost to convert the methane to carbon dioxide and water, a subsoil ventilation layer (15) above the biofilter layer, in which the carbon dioxide is diluted with air, and a vent (17) to the atmosphere from the ventilation area for venting the diluted carbon dioxide. The layers may be defined by horizontal arrays of load bearing prefabricated structural modules (1). The system (10) may collect methane from the ground beneath and/or be fed with methane collected from beneath a building (19) adjacent the system.

  • Patent number: 8562250
Abstract: A method and pumping/drainage channel member for injecting surface water into the soil beneath a ground area includes drilling a series of holes and inserting an elongated pumping/drainage members into each hole extending downwardly into the soil. The pumping/drainage channel members comprise a cluster of integrally joined channel features each formed with a lengthwise extending slot opening. Surface water flows to the pumping/drainage member, enters the channels and drains down the pumping/drainage members to enhance water movement down into the soil to reduce runoff and help to recharge acquifers. Longer members may be installed between shorter members in a pattern to achieve more rapid injection of water deep into the subsoil.

  • Patent number: 8529159
Abstract: A method for building and renovating golf course sand bunkers to improve infiltration of water through a drainage system reduces the chance of contamination of the sand and to reduce erosion and maintenance and provide consistent playable sand for golf. The bunker is built to slopes based on the sand selected for use. A drainage system and a layer of fine pea gravel is installed over the entire floor of the bunker. A pre-polymer is sprayed onto the layer of pea gravel to secure it in place. The polymer sprayed bunker is permitted to cure for approximately 24 hours. A sufficient amount of bunker sand is added and compacted so the entire bunker is covered. Washed sod is placed around the bunker to stabilize the edge of the bunker.

  • Patent number: 8491223
Abstract: A device for watering purposes, a method for the manufacture thereof, as well as means for the manufacture thereof are disclosed. The device includes a water-collecting container extending along the intended desired area to be watered. Internally in the container, there is a transverse double partition wall, which extends from the base portion of the container up to at least half the effective height of the container. Along the outside of the container, a liquid-sucking wick extends that is connected to the internal liquid-receiving spaces of the container at a mutual distance from each other, as seen along the length extension of the container.
