  • Patent number: 6962468
Abstract: A tool assembly includes a support body, a clamping device, and a tool holder clamped in a groove of the support body. A stopper block is disposed in the groove and abuts against the tool holder for positioning the tool holder along an axis. The stopper block is held in place by a wedge-type stopper clamp which applies a clamping force to the stopper block in a direction transversely of the axis. A wedge-type holder clamp is provided for applying a clamping force to the tool holder in a direction transversely of the axis. The stopper clamp is secured to the support body by a single fastening bolt, and the holder clamp is attached to the support body by a single fastening bolt. Each of the fastening bolts is provided with a part that forcefully pushes the respective clamp away from the support body in response to loosening of the fastening bolt. The arrangement is such that the tool holder can be inserted and removed without completely removing the holder clamp or its fastening bolt.

  • Patent number: 6916137
Abstract: A tool holder is held in a support body by a clamp which is wedged between the support body and the tool holder. The clamp is secured in the support body by a threaded fastener that extends through a through-hole formed in the clamp. The fastener carries a flange which pulls the clamp out of wedging relationship when the fastener is unscrewed. A spring disposed in the through-hole functions to keep the clamp pressed against the tool holder even after the clamp has been loosened, in order to keep the tool holder from falling out of the support body. A stopper is disposed behind the tool holder to locate the tool holder in a desired cutting position and to keep the tool holder pressed against an abutment surface of the support body.

  • Patent number: 4599923
Abstract: A tool bit and holder assembly is disclosed wherein a tool holder having a dove-tailed tang for connection with a mounting tool post is provided with a longitudinal groove in one face thereof; the groove having parallel, longitudinally extending and angularly inclined planar side walls intersecting a planar bottom wall of the groove. A single insert tool bit of trapezoidal cross section, having longitudinally convergent, angularly inclined, planar lateral flanks fits into the tool holder groove with one flank thereof engaging one side wall of the groove. A single wedge member, having angularly inclined and longitudinally divergent planar sides engages the other side wall of the groove and the other lateral flank of the tool bit so that application of force on the wedge to move the same toward the bottom wall of the tool holder groove exerts holding force on the tool bit along three right angularly related axes to securely hold the tool bit in fixed operative position.

  • Patent number: 4181456
Abstract: An improved cutting tool has a blade removably secured to a movable body. The body is provided with an elongated slot extending into the body from its outer surface and arranged transversely of the direction of tool movement. This slot is bounded by spaced leading and trailing wall surfaces arranged to face one another and separated by an intermediate base surface. A blade is preferably arranged in the slot such that its leading surface is in area contact with the body leading wall surface. The trailing surface of the blade is provided with a plurality of serrations. A wedge, having a plurality of serrations on its leading surface, is insertable into the slot between the blade and the body trailing wall surface. The serrations on the blade and wedge mesh and interlock with one another, and permit the blade to be incrementally positioned relative to the wedge. A tongue extending outwardly from the wedge trailing surface is insertable into a cooperative groove recessed in the body trailing wall surface.
