    Abstract: Provided is a cutter apparatus for machining a difficult-to-machine material, the cutter apparatus including: a cutting tool body which has a fastening portion formed at a center thereof; one or more cutters which are installed on the cutting tool body, and have superhard insert tips fixed to end portions thereof, respectively; and an angle adjusting unit which is installed in an internal space of the cutters, and adjusts angles of the cutters by spreading or retracting the cutters, so that angles of the cutters may be easily adjusted in accordance with a condition for cutting a difficult-to-machine material, in order to prevent damage to the superhard insert tips when machining a difficult-to-machine material having high hardness and high toughness.

    Abstract: A rotary cutting tool for reaming operations, including a generally cylindrically shaped tool shank with a longitudinal axis having a plurality of radially protruding and generally axially extending clamping wings, and a cylindrically shaped cutting head having a central bore and a plurality of axially extending cutting edges with an outer cutting diameter. The central bore has a plurality of circumferentially and alternately spaced bore sectors and bore recesses, where each bore sector has an outwardly inclined female clamping surface in clamping contact with an outwardly inclined male clamping surface of each clamping wing. A cylindrical shaped locking sleeve and a cylindrical shaped clamping nut assembled to the tool shank provide a means to adjust the clamping contact forces and the cutting diameter of the cutting head, and also enable removal and replacement of the cutting head without removal of the locking sleeve and clamping nut.

    Abstract: A thread cutting apparatus and method are disclosed for the formation of tapered threads on the end of an elongated reinforcing bar of the type used in concrete structures. The apparatus includes a cutting head assembly having tool holder arms that are cantilevered outwardly from a face or barrier surface to effect cutting of the threads outwardly of the barrier so as to protect the guideways and cutting displacement structure control structure from chips and debris. The apparatus includes positive lead control for the thread cutting chasers, a rigid clamping structure for the bar and a fluid control assembly. The fluid control assembly is capable of positioning the cutting head and housing for one or a multiple number of frusto-conical cuts of predetermined depth to permit the simultaneous formation of threads and removal of material from the reinforcing bar end.

    Abstract: A skiving tool having a retractable knife for use in combination with a roller burnishing tool for finishing the internal surface of a cylindrical hole. The retractable knife includes a pair of radially extendible knife holders defining a camming path having an axial portion and an angled portion. A push dart has a camming element with complementary camming surfaces which rides along the camming path. Axial actuation of the push dart causes the knife holders to extend radially into a stable, locked position. The roller burnishing tool includes a roller race having a central axis and a frustoconical outer surface tapering radially outward and axially forward. A plurality of frustoconically tapered rollers are arranged about the outer surface for rolling engagement with the outer surface with the smaller ends of the rollers facing forward. The taper of the rollers is such that the outermost surface portion of each roller is parallel to the central axis.
