  • Patent number: 6932129
Abstract: The wood plug trimmer is a devise used in conjunction with a hand held grinder that permits expeditious trimming of wooden plugs that are used to cover screws in wooden objects. The wood plug trimmer will have an interior cylindrical shape that will slide over the shank of a hand held grinder. The interior diameter of the wood plug trimmer will be slightly smaller than the exterior diameter of the shank of the hand held grinder and slightly shorter in length than the length of the base of the shank of the hand held grinder to the tip of the grinding die. This will permit the wood plug trimmer to be adjusted so that the grinding die will be flush with the wood surface. The wood plug trimmer will have a plurality of pilot/waste ports that will be wider than the wooden plugs to be trimmed. When in place the wood plug trimmer will have the wood plugs pass through the pilot/waste ports and permit the grinding die to trim the wooden plug flush with the surface.

  • Patent number: 4595320
Abstract: The head of this boring tool carries two bit holders, which can be radially adjusted to different cutting widths by tooth systems provided on sloping faces of the head and/or bit holder. To ensure that there is still reciprocal supporting of the bit holders even in the outermost adjustment range thereof, cams are provided for extending the supporting surfaces. As an alternative to or in addition to this measure, the spacing between the front end face of the head and the surface of the bit holder parallel thereto is made so small that when high cutting forces occur these surfaces are supported on one another before the elastic deformation range of the bit holders is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 4500233
Abstract: A rotary material removing tool has an elongated support whose rear end portion can receive torque from the motor of a boring or milling machine and whose front end portion has a front end face with a transverse recess for a carrier having in its front end face a transversely extending dovetailed guide groove for two elongated knife holders which are shiftable relative to each other and with reference to the carrier to select the distance between their knives. The support has two legs which flank the recess and bear against the carrier to hold the latter in abutment with the bottom surface in the recess and to deform elongated portions of the carrier into frictional engagement with adjacent portions of the two holders when the free ends of the legs are urged toward each other by a clamping screw.

  • Patent number: 4464088
Abstract: A rotary material removing tool wherein an elongated rod supports a carrier for two elongated knife holders between two legs which flank the carrier and can be biased toward each other and against the carrier by a clamping screw extending transversely of the guide groove and at right angles to the axis of the rod. Those surfaces of the holders which abut against each other have elongated shallow recesses which surround the respective ends of the corresponding slots and receive a plate-like intercepting member having a centrally located hole for the shank of the clamping screw. The recesses extend to the inner ends of the respective holders and toward the knives which are mounted at the outer ends of such holders. The legs of the support close the outer ends of the slots, and the intercepting member serves to prevent penetration of chips, shavings and/or other foreign matter into those ends of the slots which are provided in the abutting surfaces of the holders.

  • Patent number: 4396320
Abstract: A boring unit comprises a rotary spindle and a tool support mounted therein. The tool supports includes a rearwardly extending headbolt and a rearwardly extending supporting arm. The supporting arm engages an inclined wedge surface, the latter being movable by a connecting rod so that the wedge surface imparts rotary movement to the supporting arm and to the tool support about an axis of adjustment which is oriented perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the spindle, thereby moving the tool in a radial direction. The headbolt of the tool support is retained within a chucking cage. The chucking cage is movable to a position for releasing the headbolt by means of the movable connecting rod.

  • Patent number: 4242018
Abstract: The head of the boring bar of a boring tool has a recess flanked by two toothed internal surfaces which extend forwardly and outwardly with respect to the axis of the bar and face each other. The bit carriers have toothed surfaces which engage the respective internal surfaces and are clamped against such internal surfaces by screws whose shanks extend into tapped bores of the head. The axes of the tapped bores make an acute angle or are parallel with the axis of the bar, depending on the diameter of the bar. Each carrier has an elongated slot for the shank of the respective clamping screw, and each carrier can be shifted lengthwise of the respective teeth by a discrete adjusting screw which meshes with the bar.

  • Patent number: 4043697
Abstract: A mounting for a pair of boring tool cutting bits, the mounting being such that the two cutting bits, when present, project beyond a forward end of a mounting member and are displaced through 180.degree. relative to each other. Each of the tool cutting bits is mounted on a respective cutting bit carrier which is radially adjustable relative to and guided on teeth on the mounting member. The teeth extend in the direction of adjustment at right angles to the rotary axis of the mounting member and are parallel. The cutting bit carrier is also adjustable radially by means of an adjusting screw engaging the carrier and extending in the direction of the teeth. The teeth of the two cutting bit cariers is provided on the forward face of the mounting member in a common radial plane with continuous teeth running across the whole breadth of the forward face. The cutting bit carriers have similar teeth on their rear ends facing towards the forward face. The clamping screws are arranged parallel to the rotary axis.
