  • Patent number: 8740521
Abstract: The present invention relates to a chamfer device for machining a weld bead surface, which specifically carries out a chamfering process on the welding bead surfaces of objects to be processed (such as metal sheet materials and pipes). In the present invention, immediately after a chamfering-amount-adjustment unit has been rotated and released, a position-setting pin is inserted into a securing recess in the chamfering-amount-adjustment unit, while the chamfering amount is adjusted in precise units and simultaneously locked at a predetermined chamfering amount which is automatically maintained, and the adjustment of the chamfering amount is achieved in a straightforward fashion with just one touch. When the chamfering-amount-adjustment unit is operated, a mobile cutter shaft moves vertically and as it does so the chamfering amount is adjusted in such a way that the chamfering amount can be immediately and rapidly adjusted while continuously operating without regard to any cutter rotation action.

  • Patent number: 7914243
Abstract: A method for removing a weld crown from a weld joint between first and second work pieces includes steps of positioning a rotary milling tool proximate to the joint and at an offset angle to set a cutting arc relative to the joint. The milling tool is positioned so the cutting arc intersects the weld crown, weld toes, and parent metal on each side of the weld joint. As the milling tool traverses the joint to cut away the weld crown, the milling tool may tilt from side to side to compensate for misalignment between the work pieces along the weld joint. An apparatus for weld crown removal holds a milling tool at an offset angle, and provides a tracking mechanism to permit the milling tool to track misalignment between the work pieces, maintaining the cutting arc in intersection with the weld toes and parent metal along the weld joint.

  • Patent number: 6626617
Abstract: In order to further develop a process for making a groove in a board-like workpiece by means of a processing machine, wherein the workpiece is placed on a supporting table of the processing machine aligned essentially horizontal for holding the workpiece in a machining plane and wherein a milling unit held on a machining head of the processing machine is displaced and a groove is thereby milled into a workpiece by means of a milling disk rotating about a drive shaft aligned parallel to the machining plane, in such a manner that the groove can be milled more precisely with a defined groove depth it is suggested in accordance with the invention that the milling unit be guided at right angles to the machining plane by means of a touch roller associated with the milling disk and adapted to roll on the workpiece. In addition, a processing machine for carrying out the process is suggested as well as the use of the processing machine for the milling of a groove into a multilayered or composite material board.

Abstract: A hand-held milling machine (1) has a cutting tool (9, 10) which protrudes from a machine support (3) on the side facing the workpiece. A screw-type clamping mechanism allows the cutting tool (9, 10) and the machine support (3) to be positionally adjusted relative to each other by the relative rotational movement of clamping sections (6, 18) on both sides around a drive axis (13) in the direction of the projection of the cutting tool (9, 10) relative to the machine support (3). The clamping sections (6, 18) are positioned opposite each other in the radial direction of the drive axis (13). A tensioning device (35) allows the two clamping sections (6, 18) on both sides to be secured against relative rotational movement around the drive axis (13).
