Other Element Is A Bolt, And Member Includes Opening Configured To Engage Side Flat Thereon Patents (Class 411/195)
  • Patent number: 11300152
Abstract: A spindle nut retainer is used with a spindle with a flat portion on its threaded end. The flat portion interrupts the threads on the threaded end. A washer with a mating flat portion is slidably mounted over the threaded end and a nut is removably threaded to the threaded end of the spindle against the washer to set the preload on bearings. The nut retainer overlays a plurality of the corners of the nut and engages the threaded portion of the spindle with tangs. A majority of the tangs are flexed or bent to remain in biased contact with the threads on the spindle. Some of the tangs are located over the flat portion and remain unbent. The tangs resist rotation of the nut by engagement with the flat portion where it meets the threads.

  • Patent number: 9447813
Abstract: A bonding washer for making electrical connection between two metal pieces that are to be mechanically fastened together. The washer, to be interposed between the two metal pieces, may be constructed so as to fasten to one of the pieces before the two pieces are joined. Teeth on the washer, positioned at right angles to the plane of the washer, are forced into each of the two metal pieces when the fastener is tightened, making electrical connection between the two metal pieces.

  • Patent number: 9371142
Abstract: A hold-down assembly for retaining a portable electronic unit within an avionics equipment mounting tray includes a shaft, a locking collar, and an actuator knob. The shaft is coupled to pivot with the mounting tray. The locking collar slides along the shaft to engage the portable electronic unit. The actuator knob includes a knob body, a ratchet plate having detent holes within the knob body, a ball bearing, and a compression spring within the knob body. As the actuator knob is rotated to move along the shaft, the knob body and the ball bearing rotate with respect to the ratchet plate, and the ball bearing is forced against a spring bias of the compression spring as the ball bearing travels between adjacent detent holes.

  • Patent number: 8978777
Abstract: A non-rotation lock screw for a wellhead assembly is provided that includes a rotating portion and a non-rotating portion. The non-rotating portion includes a distal end configured to engage a component of the wellhead assembly, and may include one or more seals. The rotating portion may be rotating into a component of wellhead assembly such that the non-rotating portion translates in a radial direction. The rotating portion and non-rotating portion may be coupled together via a bearing to enable free rotation of the rotating portion. Systems and methods of operation that include the non-rotation lock screw are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6860688
Abstract: A lockable nut system for use with threaded steel bar which includes a screw threaded nut for engagement with the threaded steel bar and a locking member which is slidably engageable with the bar. The locking member is adapted to resist rotation about the bar and is also axially engageable with the nut to prevent rotation of the nut. The locking member has one or more fingers to engage the nut with an end of the finger being displaced to engage the nut as a result of deformation of a finger actuating tab or a dished body of the locking member. The locking member may engage the bar by displacement of an end of at least one tongue as a result of deformation of a tongue actuating tab during compression between the nut and a second structure.

  • Patent number: 6053681
Abstract: There is provided a new and improved wheel nut locking assembly for use on a wheel nut on a hub of a vehicle wheel, in which the wheel nut comprises a polygonal outer surface and a threaded inner surface which is constructed so as to engage a shaft. The shaft has a threaded portion and a non-threaded polygonal head extension with a threaded aperture therein. The assembly comprises a locking cap which has a recess adapted to receive the wheel nut in one of a plurality of orientations in a rotationally locked arrangement relative to the shaft. There is also provided an aperture which is adapted to receive and engage the polygonal head extension so as to prevent rotation of the locking cap and the wheel nut relative to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4604879
Abstract: A cylindrical lock on a door panel has an outside actuating lever and an outside nut. Torque from both the nut and the outside lever is transferred to a substantially planar torque plate engaging the door panel and having a central opening bounded by arcuate edge surfaces spaced away from external threads on the lock hub. The central opening is also bounded by chordal edge surfaces disposed next to chordal surfaces on the lock hub. The nut has chordal surfaces next to the chordal surfaces of the torque plate and has arcuate surfaces close to the arcuate surfaces of the torque plate, all of such surfaces being in the plane of the torque plate.
