  • Patent number: 8016533
Abstract: A lock nut having a plurality of sides having a radius crimp which is consistent with the radius of the threaded bore in the lock nut. Preferably, the lock nut is crimped using a three sided die, each die having a radius crimp with relief angles. The relief angles are provided at a desired angle to result in the desired amount of contact area between the lock nut and the die. The device includes a housing, and the housing includes at one end a threaded bore which is configured to mount on a ram. An opposite end of the housing provides a tapered die section in which the three sided die is disposed. The three sided die is engaged with a locking die base which is movable within the housing.

  • Patent number: 6676347
Abstract: A blind fastener with an improved drive nut and assembly process. The blind fastener includes a screw, a sleeve, a nut, and a drive nut. The drive nut has a smooth bore and protruding nibs that mate precisely with a driving recess located in the nut head. A side portion of the drive nut is deformed to retain the drive nut on the screw against the nut. Once the new assembly process for the blind fastener has been completed, the drive nut will have been mated with the nut head to prevent any rotation of the nut during installation of the blind fastener. The assembly process includes placing the sleeve over the threads of the screw to a position adjacent the screw head. The nut is then threaded onto the screw adjacent the sleeve. The protruding nibs of the drive nut are next aligned and physically engaged into the driving recess of the nut head by sliding the smooth bore over the screw.

  • Patent number: 6058660
Abstract: A portable garage assembly includes a floor member formed of three foldable sections having a plurality of peripherally disposed indentions on its upper surface. Received within its indentions are vertical support members that are secured thereto with quick release screws. A side, a rear and a front wall are removably secured to the support members. A plurality of directional and transverse beams are secured to the top ends of the support members for supporting a multi-section, laterally sloping roof. An opening on the front panel defines an entrance. The entrance is selectively enclosable with a garage door movable along a pair of tracks between a vertical, closed position and a horizontal open position. The device is designed to be quickly and easily erected or alternatively disassembled for transport or storage.

  • Patent number: 5725076
Abstract: A connector for a spring brake actuator comprises a threaded bolt having at least one flat portion on an outer surface thereof, a nut having a threaded central aperture threaded onto the bolt, and an embossment on the nut, extending inwardly of the central aperture to frictionally engage the flat portion of the bolt, so that the embossment prevents rotation of the nut with respect to the bolt. A method for fixedly attaching a nut onto a bolt comprises forming a flat portion on an outer surface of the bolt, threading the nut onto the bolt in alignment with the flat portion, and pressing inwardly of the nut with a punching tool to cause a portion of the material of the nut to extend inwardly of the central aperture forming an embossment in engagement with the flat portion on the bolt to hold the nut rigid with respect to the bolt.
