  • Patent number: 5094057
Abstract: Simulated marble panels and the like are mounted in place by an anchor which includes an elongated pin having a pointed remote end with an anchor plate secured to its opposite base end. The anchor plate has a plurality of perforations extending completely through it so that it may be positioned in a recess in the panel and permanently mounted to the panel by means of a bonding agent applied to the recess which flows through the perforations in the anchor plate and covers the anchor plate when it forms an integral bond with the panel. The pin may then be secured to a substrate in any suitable manner.

  • Patent number: 5054981
Abstract: A screw and toggle fastener in which the toggle member is formed from spring steel so as to be flexible but non-expandable. The toggle member is provided with a centrally located aperture to permit the threaded insertion of a screw member. The toggle member has a leading portion with respect to the central aperture which may be provided with a pointed leading edge to facilitate insertion through a member to which it is to be attached. A trailing portion of the toggle member is arcuately deformed out of the plane of the leading portion by an amount which permits pivotal movement of the toggle member with respect to the axis of the screw member so that it forms a bridging contact with the threads of the screw member when the toggle member is at right angles to the screw member after passing through the members being fastened together.

  • Patent number: 5028186
Abstract: A plastic hollow wall anchor having folding arms for insertion within a limited diameter aperture in a substrate such as a wall. The arms, adjacent their overlapping attachment areas, are configured to provide a "sharp knife edge" intersection, whereby a spacing between the attached arms, during folding and aperture insertion, is substantially eliminated. The load bearing arms are concomitantly thickened and thereby strengthened within the limited dimension afforded by the aperture. Alternatively, the overall dimensions of the anchor are reduced, while maintaining the load bearing arm dimensions, thereby enabling the use of a smaller diameter for the insertion aperture without decrease in anchor holding strength.

  • Patent number: 4997327
Abstract: A bushing cooperates with a bolt and a winged toggle member to form a toggle bolt assembly. The bushing has a maximum cross-sectional dimension substantially equal to the diameter of the hole in the wall or other support member to which the toggle bolt assembly is to fasten an object and an inside diameter permitting passage of the bolt therethrough. To fasten an object to a wall, the bolt is passed through an opening in the object and through the bushing and threadedly engaged in the toggle member. The toggle member wings are folded, and the toggle member is passed through the hole in the wall until the wings open. The bushing is inserted into the hole and held in place while the bolt is pulled outward until the opened toggle wings abut the inner surface of the wall, inhibiting rotation of the toggle member as the bolt is rotated. The bolt is then threadedly tightened in the toggle member, drawing the object and the wings into further engagement with the opposite surfaces of the wall.

The expanding and locking arms 11, 8 and 12, 9 respectively are actuated by bending the body part 6 through 90 degrees to a position where it can be locked relative to the holding plate 5.

  • Patent number: 4508479
Abstract: A fastener for sheet metal has a head, a bifurcated stem, a cross-piece running radially through the stem, and a gripping keeper placed between the sides of said stem with a pin running through a cutout in said gripping keeper. At least one side of the cutout in the gripping keeper and the outer side of the gripping keeper next thereto are placed at a small angle to each other so that, after the fastener has been inserted through holes in two members to be fastened together, with the gripping keeper lined up with the stem, the gripping keeper may be turned through 90 degrees about the pin and then pushed in a direction generally normal to said stem, for example, by using a hammer, so that the two members are forced together by a wedging effect.

Abstract: An improvement to expansible bushing type locking pins which include a handle or clip having camming means at one end to operate the bushings. Such handles or clips include an opening which cooperates with the adjusting nut on the free end of the locking pin to secure the assemblage together and in place on the parts to be assembled using the locking pin and clip assembly. The improvement comprises a nose cone on the free end of the locking pin having a circular cross-sectional shape, the nose cone overlying the adjusting nut so that the criticality of position of the nut on the pin in the prior art is avoided, while at the same time the tapered nose cone provides a guiding function to mount the pin into the parts to be assembled together.

  • Patent number: 4432683
Abstract: A toggle bolt assembly has a solid toggle head which is threadedly mounted on a cylindrical helical coil spring coaxially attached to the end of a threaded bolt, the coils of the spring having an outer diameter and a pitch which correspond substantially to those of the threads of the bolt, so that the spring forms a flexible extension of the threads of the bolt. With the toggle head mounted on the spring near the free end thereof, the spring can easily be bent to position the toggle head adjacent the bolt and substantially parallel thereto, thus permitting the entire assembly to be passed through an opening in the member in which it is to be installed. As soon as the toggle head has passed entirely through the hole, the resiliency of the spring causes it to straighten out, thus positioning the toggle head across the opening on the blind side of the hole.

The nail has a pivotally mounted end which will maintain its straight configuration when it is being driven into a solid ceiling material. Abstract: This unique cylinder shaped toggle type fastener may be used with either a bolt having a saddle type head or a bolt having a saddle type nut. The shape of the slotted toggle having one end tooth shaped allows it to be easily tipped into a saddle from the parallel position with the shank to the perpendicular position from the shank of the bolt or screw after being inserted through the hole in the material it is to be fastened to. The unique shape also leaves a flat V-shaped surface that abutts to the inside of the material. The design of the toggle eliminates the necessity of any pins giving the toggle much greater strength than other varieties. This type of fastener may be manufactured out of any kind of metal, plastic or nylon.
