Attachable Cap Structure Patents (Class 411/373)
  • Patent number: 4582462
Abstract: A plastic protecting cap for the clamping on a polygon nut, with a cylinder casing, which overlaps the polygon nut. The technical problem of the present invention is the provision of a plastic protecting cap, which, by a turning movement, can be clamped safely and firmly on the polygon nut and can be released therefrom by turning in opposite direction again. On the internal face of the casing, at least, two axial profile webs are arranged at places corresponding to polygonal corners, each web comprises a groove profile, open against the axis, with a vertex angle equal to the polygon angle, the radial distance of the vertex of each groove profile from the profile axis being slightly smaller than the radial distance of each corner of the polygon nut profile from the profile axis, and one flange surface of the groove profile is longer, in circumferential direction, than the other flange surface.

  • Patent number: 4543447
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electromagnetic shielding device. Further, the present invention relates to a arrangement for electromagnetic shielding of two adjacent relatively movable members having opposed surfaces with a space therebetween. The electromagnetic shielding device includes a resilient cap portion having a center portion and a plurality of segments extending radially outwardly therefrom. An arrangement for retaining the cap portion on one of the surfaces is provided. The retaining arrangement includes a thin disk adapted to be received between the segments of the cap portion and resilient tongues extending radially inwardly from an outer end of each of the segments. The cap portion in a free state has a height which is greater than the distance of the space between the opposed surfaces to be shielded. In this way, the cap portion is compressed to fit within the space upon movement of the members toward one another to ensure electrical connection between the two opposed surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4441230
Abstract: A molded knob of the type which frictionally engages and slips over the end of a shaft of generally circular cross section and having at least one longitudinally extending flat surface. A hub is formed as part of the knob. A shaft receiving walled socket is formed in the hub. The socket has a flat wall adapted to engage the shaft. Side walls extending from the flat wall are positioned to contact the curved wall of the shaft. Abutments are located at the ends of the side walls distal from the flat wall and are positioned to engage the shaft. A resilient finger is located in the socket opposite the flat wall between the abutments and positioned to engage and apply pressure to the curved outer surface of the shaft. The abutments are dimensioned to engage the shaft to limit deflection of the resilient finger beyond that necessary to apply a force to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4406033
Abstract: A multi-part fastener assembly for attachment of a carpet-like member to a support. The fastener is designed to minimize snagging and/or scraping-type of engagement with objects that come in contact therewith. The exposed fastener part is an annular member which has a radiussed outer edge from which a plurality of rigid projections extend. The projections are designed to be able to penetrate the carpet-like member and a radially extending flange of another fastener part and be folded to fixedly position the fastener relative to the carpet-like member. The radially extending flange has areas of reduced thickness to ease the projections therethrough and is deflected to create an annular mounding of the carpet-like member around the annular member to cooperate therewith in increasing the resistance of the fastener to snagging type of engagement.

  • Patent number: 4253509
Abstract: A theft deterrent device for "bolting" pieces of material together, comprising:(1) a nut-like device having a smooth outer surface resistant to the effects of conventional wrenches,(2) a male threaded member having an internally threaded axial bore, adapted to threadedly engage the nut-like member,(3) a locking screw for threadedly engaging the internal bore of the male member, and having a head that mates with the smooth outer surface of the nut-like device, resulting in an essentially smooth, continuous outer surface resistant to removal using conventional wrenches, and(4) an environmental plug for inserting into the driving recess or bore of the screw to prevent foreign and corrosive matter from entering the recess. The locking screw threads are of opposite hand to that of the nut-like portion, so that the locking screw must first be removed before the nut may be removed.

  • Patent number: 4245484
Abstract: An improvement in post-type earrings, which are earrings connected to a human ear by a rigid slender short rod or post which extends from an ornament, and is rectilinear and cylindrical. The post is threaded at the end opposite to the ornament, and a clutch having a conical configuration formed by a concave base and a plurality of radial springy fingers is provided. The clutch is pushed onto the post, whereby the tips of the fingers engage the convolutions of the helical threading, and the clutch may only be removed by unscrewing it off of the post. The present clutch configuration features a concave base for self-locating of the post; an octagonal base perimeter for facilitating grip and unscrewing; convex rounded tips on the fingers; a center longitudinal ridge on each finger for increased strength and less weight; lateral end ridges adjacent the finger tips to prevent degradation or bending of the tips; and lateral base ridges on each finger which improve flexibility.
