  • Publication number: 20120141305
Abstract: A stay rod connects a power end to a fluid end of a high pressure well service pump where the pump has a pump motor face on a power end which is spaced apart from a joining face of a fluid end by the stay rods. The stay rods each have an elongated unitary body having first threaded end which is sized to be received in a mating threaded opening provided in the motor face of the power end of the pump and a second opposing threaded end which is sized to be received in a mating opening provided on the joining face of the fluid end of the pump. The intermediate portion is of a greater relative diameter than either of its first and second threaded ends and is provided with a series of elongated flats which begin at the approximate juncture between a shoulder joining the second threaded end and extending in the direction of a shoulder joining the first threaded end. Each flat forms a torque surface for engagement by a torque wrench for torquing and installing the stay rod.

  • Publication number: 20100124473
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a fastening device comprises an object having a through hole, and a fastener which fixes the object to a support by being screwed into a screw hole. The fastener includes a gripper and a stopper. The gripper is capable of protruding outside of the object from the through hole and getting into the through hole, and has an end surface on a side opposite to a male screw portion. The stopper is positioned between the male screw portion and the gripper. In a state in which the male screw portion is screwed into the screw hole, the end surface is positioned inside the through hole. In a state in which the male screw portion is removed from the screw hole, the gripper protrudes outside of the object from the through hole, and the stopper is caught in the object and holds the fastener to the object.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a fastening system includes two opposing plates, and a retainer material that is activated to increase the flexibility of the retainer material. The retainer material surrounds at least a portion of two opposing plates, the plates and the retainer material mounted to allow the plates to move apart and back together when the retainer material is flexible. A pin is insertable through an opening between the plates. The pin includes a first tapered portion configured to separate the plates as the pin is inserted in the opening via a pushing force. The retainer material becomes rigid when deactivated to lock the pin between the plates.

  • Publication number: 20080075556
Abstract: An adjustable shim includes a first member having a fastener opening for attachment by a screw to a frame, and a protrusion defining a coaxial threaded opening spaced from the fastener opening. A second member has a protrusion telescopically mounted on the first member and has a hollow bolt threadably located in the threaded opening coaxial with the fastener opening. The head of the hollow bolt is accessible through the second member protrusion, so that a screw can pass through the bolt to the fastener opening, and the head of the bolt is restrained from axial movement relative to the second member, so that rotation of the bolt causes the first and second members to move telescopically.

  • Patent number: 5540514
Abstract: An assembly for mechanically hanging a glazing element to a supporting structure uses an articulated fixing system allowing the plate to tilt about its support point on said system. It includes a cavity defining element engaging the glazing element and a carrying element connectable to the supporting structure and having a portion fittable in a cavity defined by said cavity defining element so as to form an articulated connection with said cavity defining element. The articulated connection has a bearing region and supports the glazing element for turning with a pendular motion about the bearing region. This makes possible a bending movement of controlled amplitude of the glazing element.

  • Patent number: 5181817
Abstract: A fastener for securing an attachment such as a guiderail to a surface of a wall. Such an attachment is provided with an internally-threaded aperture to receive the externally-threaded shank of a bolt passed through an aperture in the wall to which the attachment is to be mounted. The fastener includes a hardened washer and a bolt. The bolt is passed through registered apertures in the washer and the mounting wall and then threaded into the internally-threaded aperture in the attachment. The aperture in the washer can be conical in shape so that the shank of the bolt can be accommodated even where the aperture in the attachment is mis-tapped so that the bolt does not extend perpendicular to the wall of the attachment. The outer peripheral surface of the washer is threaded, and a cap is provided with internal threading compatible with the threads formed in the outer peripheral surface of the washer.

  • Patent number: 4417711
Abstract: A first clamp member and a second clamp member are positioned in opposed spaced relation with a conduit, pipe or the like, positioned therebetween. Each clamp member has a body portion including an engaging end portion adapted for attachment to a structural support and an opposite connecting end portion. An intermediate portion having an arcuate configuration extends between the engaging and connecting end portions and is adapted to receive and support the conduit. A moisture resistant, polymeric material covers the clamp member body portions so that the clamp members are completely encapsulated to seal out the effects of moisture. A bore extends through the connecting end portion of each clamp member. In assembly, the bores are oppositely aligned to receive a fastening element which draws the connecting end portions together for engagement of the intermediate portions with the periphery of the conduit.
