Axially Adjustable Patents (Class 411/384)
  • Patent number: 5271713
Abstract: A harvester fan includes a donut-shaped insert which is rotationally molded with button-head bolts spaced therearound. The rotor-end of the bolts are molded into the sidewall of the insert so the sealing area of the insert remains planar for maximizing sealing ability. The opposite threaded ends of the bolts project from the insert, and rotation of a special nut held axially by snap ring and easily accessible by a wrench from outside the fan housing finely tunes the fan insert axially relative to the rotor for maximum output and efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5101647
Abstract: A portable vehicle throttle lock which includes a base member having opposite end portions. An accelerator pedal engagement means is formed in or connected adjacent to one of the opposing ends of the base member and a brake pedal engagement means is formed in or connected adjacent to the remaining opposing base member end. Also included are means for adjustably lengthening or shortening the base member. In operation the throttle lock is engaged between the brake and accelerator pedals of a conventional motor vehicle. An operator may lengthen the throttle lock via the adjustable lengthening means in order to adjust the rate of engine shaft rotation. The throttle lock may be manufactured and installed such that an operator may return the engine to idle by simple depressing the accelerator pedal thereby causing the throttle lock to disengage.

  • Patent number: 5073072
Abstract: The threaded split-bushing fastener assembly has been designed for high temperature applications such as on hypersonic vehicles. The fastener assembly consists of a pin (with a standard countersunk head at one end and a tapered end at the other end), a tubular threaded split-bushing, a nut, and a washer. Installation is accomplished by inserting the pin in the parts to be fastened, then slipping the washer and split-bushing on the tapered end of the pin and finally screwing the nut onto the split-bushing. Tightening of the nut allows preloading of the fastener assembly.

  • Patent number: 4948550
Abstract: A plug for sealing the internally threaded circular cylindrical stud holes in the flange of a nuclear reactor vessel during refueling comprises a circular cylindrical body of dense wear resistant polymer, a circular reaction plate axially spaced from one end face of the plug, an annular grommet of elastomer resistant to weak acid held between the reaction plate and the body having an exterior conical surface. A tool extends into the body and applies a torque for turning threads into the internal threads of the stud hole thus drawing the grommet into the stud hole such that it deforms against the interior of the stud hole and the surface of the flange adjacent the stud hole.

  • Patent number: 4928531
Abstract: By the fastening device, two electric transmitters are to be arranged on a supporting structural part from which two extensions (11) protrude spaced from each other. For this purpose, one bored attachment end (15, 16) each of the two transmitters are arranged each on one side (13, 14) of one of the two extensions (11) on a threaded bolt (1, 2). The threaded bolt is screwed, with one collar (5, 6) each lying on both sides against the extension (11), directly to the latter. The attachment ends each have such a large recess (20 22) that they rest only on the extension without resting on the collars (5, 6). The threaded bolt (1, 2) is provided on the outside on both ends with a threaded section (9, 10). Nuts (25, 26) which are screwed on the respective threaded sections press in each case one of the two attachment ends (15, 16) against the extension (11).

  • Patent number: 4884934
Abstract: A junction bolt for joining members by use of clamping nuts engaged with the junction bolt is provided with an axial inner hollow hole in which a piston member is located so as to define a space between the outer peripheral surface of the piston member and the inner wall of the junction bolt. The space is divided by a sealing member into a pressurizing space into which a pressurized fluid is introduced and a temperature adjusting space into which a heat medium is introduced. In the bolt clamping force adjusting method, the temperature of the junction bolt is first adjusted to a predetermined temperature and an extending amount of the junction bolt to be caused when an aimed clamping force is applied at this predetermined temperature.

  • Patent number: 4576402
Abstract: A locking pipe sub is disclosed including a threaded pin connection for engaging, for example, a pipe stuck in a well bore. The threads on the pin are formed in two sections which are adapted to align upon initial make-up of the sub to the stuck pipe, but to misalign, both axially and radially, when reverse torque is applied to the sub. The result is to create axial and radial forces between the threads of the sub and the threads of the stuck pipe which positively lock the sub against disconnection from the pipe except with the use of a releasing tool.
