  • Patent number: 7988652
Abstract: The present invention discloses a pivotal disc is pivotally coupled to a first brace and a second brace. The pivotal disc has a motion-limit member and a positioning member limiting the angle by which the second brace rotates with respect to the first brace with the pivotal disc being the axis and fixing the angle between the first and second braces. The present invention is characterized in that the motion-limit member uses a range-adjust member to push a slide block and determine the range that a block portion of the second brace is blocked by the slide block, and that the positioning member uses a switch knob actuates on end of a positioning rod to engage with or depart from a positioning notch on the pivotal disc, and that the pivotal disc has two limit elements to define the maximum movement range of the first brace and the second brace.

Abstract: Threaded connectors for securing a structure such as a post or pole to a support are disclosed. In one embodiment, an anchor has a passageway that is threaded for at least a portion of its length. An elongate connecting member has a relatively wide central section and threaded first and second sections extending from opposite sides of the central section. The first section is threadable into the passageway to secure the connecting member to the anchor. The connecting member is formed with a turning formation at its outer end so that it can be engaged with a turning tool in order to thread the connecting member into or out of the passageway. A nut is part of the connector and can be threaded onto the second section in order to secure the structure. Another version of the connector has a flanged nut having a flange spaced from the outer end of the nut, which is threadable onto a threaded connecting member.

Abstract: The slotted screw is made with an apparatus for forming a slot in a semi-product of a screw prior to thread formation and includes a punch and a die mechanism. The die mechanism includes a tubular member, and an elongated die member formed integrally with a slot-forming plate which is located at a front end portion thereof and which has a uniform-thickness flat middle portion and two side portions that are wider than the middle portion. The semi-product can be compressed between the punch and the slot-forming plate of the die member in a central bore in a high-hardness block, which is fixed in the tubular member, to form the slot. Accordingly, the slot has a uniform-width middle portion and two end portions which are wider than the uniform-width middle portion.

Abstract: An improved set screw with a break off head for use in an osteosynthesis apparatus. The set screw comprising a head or stem preferably having a hexagonal external cross-section, a lower portion having a thread extending around an outer surface thereof and a shank connecting the head to the threaded lower portion. An outer diameter of the shank is equal to a minor diameter of the threaded lower portion, i.e. the outer diameter of the threaded lower portion at the base of the thread. A bore extends into the set screw from an upper surface thereof. The bore has a first bore section and a second bore section wherein the second bore section has a reduced diameter relative to the first bore section and is separated from the first bore section by an internal shoulder. The internal shoulder extends into the bore below an upper end of the thread.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a tear-off cap or shearable screw (1) comprising a plurality of thread portions (3) and a cap portion (5) connected with the thread portions (3) via a first predetermined breaking point (7), wherein further predetermined breaking points (9) in the form of cross-section tapering are provided between the thread portions (3). The present invention distinguishes itself by the fact that the tear-off torques both increase and decrease from the most remote thread portion towards the cap portion (5), this forming at least one stepped predetermined breaking point (13).

  • Patent number: 6142485
Abstract: A chuck for rotary tools with a cylindrical chucking shank encloses such shank with a basic body. A radial through-hole in basic body serves to receive a clamping screw which applies pressure to a clamping member which is seated inside a through-hole between the clamping screw and chucking shank. A clamping member is provided with a radial projection and the through-hole with a cross-sectional narrowing along its inner end. In between the radial projection and the narrowing is an elastically compressible spring element which, due to its return force, lifts the clamping element away from the chucking shank and pushes it back into the through-hole when it is not under tension from the clamping screw.

  • Patent number: 6112396
Abstract: Jackbolts for multi jackbolt tensioner embody a thread construction which taper from a maximum diameter adjacent to torque receiving end of the jackbolt when threadedly engaged with a threaded opening in the outer peripheral part of a jackbolt body. The threads of the jackbolt have a different thread pitch than the threads in the jackbolt body and the tooth flank of the jackbolt threads for an angle with the tooth flanks of the thread in the jackbolt body. By this thread construction, there is formed a helical volume of ever increasing size along the jackbolts commencing at a metal to metal relation at the torque receiving end. Stressing of the jackbolt closes the helical volume bringing the threads to a metal to metal load transfer relation. The end of the jackbolts has a protruding central end portion that elastically flattens under stress to reduce torque requirements.

  • Patent number: 5813809
Abstract: A threaded connection between adjoining male/female surfaces is produced by mating a plastic insert embedded in one surface with threads machined on the other surface. The plastic insert is pressed against the machined threads and deformed to provide conforming meshing threads in the insert, thereby producing a threaded engagement between the two surfaces. Preferably, the insert is sufficiently wide to overlap multiple machined threads and yield a stable, strip-resistant engagement. By providing at least three such inserts evenly distributed around the preexisting threads, an axially stable, screwable threaded connection is produced between the two surfaces that does not require precise machining or special tooling for unconventional threads. Although the inserts are preferably used in the female surface for ease of access, they can be used advantageously in equivalent fashion in the male surface of the screwable threaded connection.
