    Abstract: The invention provides a rivet and method of installing the rivet to attach honeycomb material to other materials. The rivet is installed by drilling a hole through the materials. A back side sleeve of the rivet is inserted through one end of the hole while a front side sleeve with a stem member inserted therethrough is inserted through the other end of the hole such that the head of the stem member and the sleeve portion of the front sleeve are positioned within the sleeve portion of the back sleeve. The shank portion of the stem member is then pulled such that the head of the stem member expands the sleeve portions of the front and back sleeves into the materials to attach the rivet to the materials. A locking collar is also provided to lock the stem member to the front sleeve upon continued pulling of the stem member.

The one-piece assembly may be formed in a gated mold having a central pin with a relief passage that defines the braces between upper and lower portions of the rivet.

    Abstract: A clamp has two injection moulded tangs 1, 2 hinges together by a pin 3 and held closed by a wing nut 4 and a screw 5 having a cross-head 6. The tangs each have a tapered groove 7 running around inside them. In use, this groove engages flanges F on tubes T with a seal S therebetween to hold the tubes in sealing relationship with each other. The one tang 2 has a clevis 10 defined by two lugs 11. Each has an overhung recess 12 into which the cross-head 6 of the screw clips. A crossbar 14 connects the lugs remote from their tang, whereby the screw is limited in its angular displacement about the recesses 12, as shown in FIG. 3. The crossbar also stabilises the lugs against relative displacement under load when the nut is tightened. The other tang 1 has a part conical formation 21 on lugs 22 defining a clevis 23 similar to clevis 10. The nut has a complementary conical recess 24. Engagement of the formation 21 in the recess 24 restrains the lugs from separating under load as the nut is tightened.

    Abstract: A clip 1 is provided with a grommet 4 and a pin member 6. The grommet 4 has an axial leg 3 formed in the shape of a hollow cylinder by a plurality of elastic pieces 2. The pin member 6 is provided with an axial portion 7, recess grooves 8 and dams 10. Temporarily stopping pieces 9 are provided for the above recess grooves 8. Further, the above dams 10, 10 are formed at the leading half portions of the above recess grooves which the above axial leg comes into elastic contact with. By inserting the above axial portion 7 into a hollow portion 5 formed in the axial leg 3, the above elastic pieces 2 are expanded and plural panels are coupled to one another. At the temporarily fixing time, the temporarily stopping pieces 9 fit in fitting receivers 12 of the base ends of slits each of which is formed between the adjacent elastic pieces 2, thereby to prevent the pin member 6 from dropping out of the grommet. Further, the rotation of the pin member 6 is prevented by the dams 10.

    Abstract: The grommet assembly includes a grommet head and a pin. The pin includes longitudinal guide channels and an enlarged head which may include undercuts formed immediately underneath the enlarged head. The grommet head includes grommet segments secured radially by radial bands with a nose band forming the tip of the grommet head. An aperture is formed between the grommet segments, with guide ridges formed on the interior arcuate walls to engage said longitudinal guide channels. The aperture further includes inwardly ramped surfaces which are forced apart by the enlarged head of the pin during insertion. Thereafter, in the fully installed position, the inwardly ramped surfaces engage the undercuts formed beneath the enlarged head.

    Abstract: A window runner includes a clip-in member that engages a hole in a window to attach the window runner to the window. A locking member, in the form of a screw pre-mounted on the runner, is introduced into a central orifice of the clip from the side of the window which faces toward the interior of the vehicle. Flexible tabs extending from the clip lock into the periphery of the window hole. It is therefore extremely difficult to detach the clip from outside the vehicle. In consequence, any unauthorized lowering of the window by detaching the window clip-in member is no longer possible.

A second set of semi-rigid lateral support legs carried on the main body permit the fastener construction to be preassembled to another vehicle component, such as a headliner, prior to the time that the assist strap component and the headliner component are joined to the vehicle body panel.

In the driven position of the fastener, the predrive positioning protrusions are engaged by the locking surfaces. Additionally, in the driven position, pin retention protrusions on the locking pin are engaged by mating surfaces in the base of the body. The predrive positioning protrusions are formed in a plane which is perpendicular to the plane in which the pin retention protrusions are formed.

The fixing clip includes a grommet having a plurality of extensible leg pieces for engagement with a periphery of the attachment hole, a pin to be pressed into the grommet and a seal cap for accommodating the grommet. The seal cap has a plurality of extensible pleats formed in respective places corresponding to the leg pieces of the grommet. When the leg pieces of the grommet spread and engage with the periphery of the attachment hole of the panel through the seal cap, the pleats of the seal cap stretch out to follow the spreading leg pieces, so that the seal cap can be deformed easily. Therefore, there is no fear of reducing the engagement force of the leg pieces with the periphery of the attachment hole of the panel.

Body has a head and elongated portion insertable into holes in members to be joined. The elongated portion is comprised of a pair of outwardly tapered longitudinal members projecting from the head and interconnected by an inwardly tapered nose. Shank of drive pin is insertable into a passage which extends through the head and elongated portion of the body. When drive pin is predriven into the body, the first pair of protrusions engages into slots in the passage, retaining the drive pin within the body. As drive pin is driven into the body, legs and walls deflect inwardly.

Upon impact to the driving pin when the fastener is placed into a blind threaded aperture, the wedge portion forces apart the distal ends of the parallel fingers, while the driving pin forces apart the proximal ends of the parallel fingers thereby driving the serrated portions of the fingers against the threads of the blind threaded aperture.
