By Transversely Extending Bore Patents (Class 411/422)
  • Patent number: 10337544
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a screw connection comprising a support component, an additional component and a screw to fasten the support component to the additional component. The support component has a tube made of thermoplastic foam to accommodate the screw in a friction and positive fit. The screw has a blunt-edged thread, enabling the screw to compress the foam in the tube as it is driven in. The ratio of the inner diameter of the tube to the diameter of the screw depends on the degree of foaming of the tube and decreases as the degree of foaming increases. In comparison to conventional screws, the threads of the screw of the present disclosure penetrate less deeply into the foam or they displace it, preventing damage to the tube while enabling a tight fit.

  • Patent number: 9175708
Abstract: A screw with a polygonal cross section comprises a threaded section and a non-threaded section that extends from the threaded section to a front, rounded screw tip. The sideline of the non-threaded section runs smoothly and without interruption from the threaded section to the tip at a constant curvature. The screw is used to attach an element to a panel component, wherein the screw itself produces the hole in the panel component and forms the threads.

  • Patent number: 7565078
Abstract: A thread structure for an optical lens comprises a plastic lens barrel, and the thread structure is formed on an outer surface of the lens barrel. In each single circle of the thread structure there is a normal thread and a partial withdraw thread. The partial withdraw thread is located on a longitudinal parting line of the thread structure, a top diameter and a pitch circle diameter of the partial withdraw thread are smaller than those of the normal thread, the thread structure is provided with ribs that are located at the root of a first normal thread close to the front end of the lens barrel. The withdraw thread produces an interval between the thread structure and the base, thus preventing the burrs on the parting surface from contacting the inner threads of the base and causing powder.

  • Patent number: 7374384
Abstract: A fastener for use in the construction of pallets is provided which includes a head having a head diameter, a single elongate shank having a nominal shank diameter, and a plurality of rings extending outwardly from the shank. Each ring had a crest and a root, with the crest being located closer to the head than the root. The fastener has a bending yield strength of about 100 ksi or greater, and a length of between about 0.5 inch and 1.75 inches. The ratio of the head diameter to the nominal shank diameter is between 2.70 and 3.37, and the plurality of rings are formed so that an average outer diameter of the crests of the rings between a middle ring and the head is greater than an average outer diameter of the crests of the rings between the middle ring and the tip.

  • Patent number: 4715757
Abstract: An apparatus which attaches a first device within a cavity of an anchor without using inserts, flanges, or adhesives is disclosed. Flexibility in positioning the device relative to the anchor is provided regardless of whether the anchor cavity or the device is threaded. A keeper having two rows of teeth, each row being substantially perpendicular to the threads, is mounted between the device and anchor and rotates under a force exerted by a pin so that only one of the two rows engages the thread channels. The force exerted by the pin also causes the keeper to pivot about a pivot end which is specifically shaped to prevent binding upon removal of the device from the cavity.

  • Patent number: 4449874
Abstract: A threaded fastener capable of recutting damaged screw threads during installation in a threaded opening has an axial opening in its leading end intersecting a transverse opening whose ends extend through the screw threads of the fastener. The fastener is provided in its periphery at least in one location thereon with a longtiudinal recess of greater depth than the screw threads which intersects the transverse opening at right angles thereto and extends longitudinally of the fastener away from one side of the transverse opening which is remote from the axial opening. A thread cutting surface is produced by the recess and thread cuttings pass therefrom into the transverse and axial openings during installation of the fastener.
