  • Patent number: 4929137
Abstract: A safety rivet arrangement for indicating the unauthorized opening of a housing whose wall parts are connected with each other at a separating joint which has a covered outer edge. A safety rivet extends through the connection and is considerably harder than the material of the housing wall parts. The rivet ends are arranged recessed, and the safety rivet is also only loosely peened-over so as to be rotatable. By reason of its high material hardness, and the rotatable arrangement, the rivet cannot be drilled out with some evidence of the drilling.

  • Patent number: 4890967
Abstract: A protective and decorative cover for application to bolts, nuts and the like. The cover comprises a retainer made of a resilient compressible material having legs which align with the flats of a bolt head or nut. A generally cylindrical cap is then applied over the retainer. The internal diameter of the cap provides an interference fit with the legs of the retainer thereby compressing them against the flats of the bolt or nut. The exposed head of the bolt or the nuts is thus fully enclosed by the cap and protected from the elements. The cap may have a decorative shape and finish that is particularly desirable in automotive, motorcycle and marine applications.

  • Patent number: 4620428
Abstract: A lock and coupling apparatus for securing fire hydrants is disclosed. The two piece apparatus comprises an inner member concentrically received within an outer cylindrical member. The inner member is formed with a socket for receiving the five sided hydrant valve post. A snap ring connects the outer member to the inner member while permitting rotational movement therebetween. A square lock pin moveable between locked and unlocked positions is provided to lock the inner and outer members so that rotational movement of the outer member is transmitted to the inner member. A specifically designed wrench for imparting rotary movement to the outer member is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4611379
Abstract: A tamper-proof or security threaded fastener assembly adapted for use with standard size bolts and screws is provided to reduce or eliminate the unauthorized removal of threaded fasteners from their desired position of fixation. A cap portion is adapted to completely encase the head of the bolt or screw such that, after tightening of the bolt or screw, access thereto is restricted to a special non-standard tool. In one embodiment, a nut portion is provided comprising an elongate strip provided with a threaded hole to receive the bolt and a perpendicularly disposed flange. An additional hole appropriately provided in the base or plate through which the bolt is attached is adapted to receive the flange of the nut portion in a manner which prevents the nut portion from being rotated after the bolt is tightened and fully drawn up to the base or plate.

  • Patent number: 4569259
Abstract: Correspondingly keyed combination of a round-headed bolt fastener and a generally cylindrical socket, preferably for use in securing an automobile wheel cover against theft. The fastener has a plurality of axial slots, or lock impressions, about the periphery of the circular head which may be spaced in accordance with a preselected code. The wrench socket is provided with a corresponding number of key elements projecting inwardly from the cylindrical wall of the socket, the position of the key elements being in accordance with a preselected code. When the key code of the wrench matches the lock code of the fastener, the wrench socket may be slipped over the fastener head with the key elements engaging the lock impressions so that the wrench may tighten or untighten the fastener. The fastener has an axial recess extending from the outer face of the head with an inner beveled surface about the recess opening.
