Having Plural Parts, One Of Which Engages The Inwardly Facing Surface Of A Bolt Head Or Nut Patents (Class 411/93)
  • Patent number: 7367766
Abstract: A device for fastening two parts to each other includes fastening screws extending in aligned passages in the two parts and receiving nuts, and a removable element for preventing the screw heads from moving during tightening or loosening of the nuts on the screws, this removable element cooperating with one of the two parts for preventing rotation of the screw heads relative to this part.

  • Patent number: 4781502
Abstract: An anti-rotation locking device for threaded fasteners which secure rotating parts subject to vibration, shock and the like. The device comprises a strap member and one or more retainer members. The strap member is positioned under the fasteners and the retainer members each have a toothed opening which is installed over the matching wrenching surface of the fastener. Each retainer member also has an arcuate slot which is positioned above an arcuate tang on the strap member. The tang is lifted, passed through the slot, bent about the bottom of the slot and folded back over the top surface of the retainer member to thereby restrain the loosening of the fastener.

  • Patent number: 4684281
Abstract: A shifter boss mounting assembly includes a member threaded at each end and extending diametrically at least partway through a bicycle frame downtube formed with openings therein, a pair of shifter boss bases with inward surfaces conforming to the downtube outer surface, and a pair of shifter studs that extend through the base and a respective opening in the downtube and thread onto the corresponding threaded ends of the member. A projection on each base cooperates with an opening or indentation in the downtube to restrain the base from rotational movement. A lock washer or a plate keyed to cooperate with the base and the stud restrain the stud against unthreading when the shift levers are pivoted. Once mounted, the boss assembly is standardized in its external configuration to bosses adapted to receive standard commercial shift lever assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4657457
Abstract: A locking device for securing at least two screw-action connectors comprises a locking clip or element made from a good quality spring steel wire having a round or square section. The locking clip or element has a diagonal interconnecting part which extends tangentially between a pair of locking elements one at each end of the part. The locking elements (for example, coils) are wrapped round or placed over a portion of a wheel nut. The interference/friction fit between the wheel nut and the clip or element prevents axial movement of the clip relative to the nut. The part serves as restraining means positively linking tangentially adjacent wheel nuts and thereby prevents relative rotation thereof.

  • Patent number: 4577891
Abstract: A torque limiting collar includes a support plate attached to a stationary support adjacent a fitting and a locking plate engaged with a nonmovable part of the fitting and bolted to the support plate. When the rotatable portion of the fitting is tightened against the nonmovable part, the torque is transmitted through the locking and support plates to the stationary support instead of being transmitted into the conduit connected to the nonmovable or rigid part of the fitting. The locking plate has an edge defined in the configuration of a segment of a socket pattern which matches and mates with the profile of the rigid part of the fitting.

  • Patent number: 4329097
Abstract: A pair of nut locking cups are engaged on the external surfaces of a pair of nuts and are constructed so that the outside radius of a cup is equal to one-half of the distances between adjacent studs to allow the cups to be placed on the nuts regardless of nut position with the outside radii of the cups remaining in contact with each other; a locking bar is positioned across the two adjacent studs with the studs being welded to the bar; the locking cups are also welded to the locking bar and thus form a positive lock between the studs and the anchor point for the nut lock cups.
