Abstract: A gripping device (200) is proposed for gripping a sewing thread (415) in a bookbinding sewing machine (100). The gripping device (200) comprises a crochet (205) and a body (220) that are slidable reciprocally between an open condition, wherein a hook (215) of the crochet (205) hooks the sewing thread (415), and a closed condition, wherein the hook (215) blocks the sewing thread (415); the body (220) has one or more channels (270) crossing it for conveying a gas jet towards the hook (215). A bookbinding sewing machine (100) comprising one or more gripping devices (200) is also proposed. Moreover, a corresponding method for sewing signatures (115) into book blocks (155) is proposed.
Abstract: A machine produces an adhesively bonded book block. The machine has a clamp chain equipped with spaced apart binder clamps, which are connected to a clamp opening system. The clamp opening system has a movable internal aid for a binder clamp and an external aid, which are operably connected together. The aids open clamping jaws of the binder clamp. At a loading location for the book block, the external aid is operated by a drive to execute pressing operation on the movable internal aid. The moveable internal aid achieves an opening of the clamping jaws depending on a thickness of the book block. A recoil force is established with the drive-related pressing operation, which is converted as a pressing force onto the book block in a running cycle.

Abstract: Binding equipment and false cover forming equipment for hardcover books are disclosed. The false cover forming equipment carries out false covers, by positioning a pair of endpapers in correspondence of lateral binding flaps of a respective backstrip, arranging folds of the endpapers at a pre-assembling distance associated with the thickness of the text block and gluing margins of past-down sheets of the endpapers with binding edges of the backstrip. The binding equipment is feedable, at a cover input “IC”, with the false covers for carrying out book blocks by gluing the backstrips of the false covers with the binding edges of corresponding text blocks and refolding the pairs of endpapers on the respective text blocks. An electronic processing unit is settable for the control of the false cover forming equipment and the binding equipment as a function of the dimensions of the hardcover book to be bound.

Abstract: A paper sheet binding die set comprises first and second dies, each having an opposed surface comprising a plurality of tooth portions. The first and second dies face each other such that the first die and the second die are capable of meshing with each other. Each tooth portion of the first die comprises a valley-bottom portion, and a peak-top portion. Each tooth portion of the second die comprises a valley-bottom portion, a peak-top portion, and an inclined-surface portion extending at an incline from the valley-bottom portion to the peak-top portion. The peak-top portion of each of the plurality of tooth portions of the first die has a length so as to cover the inclined-surface portion of the corresponding tooth portion of the second die upon meshing of the first and second dies. The first and second dies pressurize the plurality of stacked paper sheets to bind them together.
Abstract: A book binding machine includes a collating machine, a perfect binder and a transfer device disposed between the collating machine and the perfect binder. The collating machine and the perfect binder are actuated by a common control device. In each case, one transport segment is assigned to a respective book block clamp by the control device. The control device also has a program which, if a defective or missing book block clamp is detected, actuates the collating machine in such a way that no book block is collated for that book block clamp. A method for operating a book binding machine is also provided.

Abstract: There is provided a decoloring device including a decoloring unit, a first sheet conveying unit, a first sheet feed unit, a thickness detecting unit, a decolorability determining unit, and a second sheet feed unit. The first sheet conveying unit conveys the sheet to the decoloring unit. The first sheet feed unit feeds the sheet to the first sheet conveying unit. Abstract: A wire-bound product using a double type laminated paper board and a method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. The wire-bound product employs a structure in which inner paper sheets are turned over in the rightward and leftward directions on front plates of a frame, instead a structure in which a plurality of inner paper sheets is turned over toward the rear surface of a frame, thereby allowing a user to see both surfaces of the inner paper sheets. Further, rear plates of the frame are inserted into various positions of a spring to support the front plates, thereby allowing a standing angle of the front plates of the frame to be adjustable.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to produce and sequence a plurality of different books. An example system includes a plurality of signature feeders to deliver signatures to stations along a conveyor to simultaneously produce and sequence a plurality of different books in a first predetermined order to co-mail, wherein each of the different books has different content. Additionally, the example system includes one or more trimmers to trim the plurality of different books. Further, the example system includes a stacker to stack the plurality of different books in a second predetermined order, wherein the second predetermined order satisfies discount postage rate guidelines. Still further, the example system includes a controller to cause the plurality of different books to be produced in a first predetermined order.
Abstract: A method collates multiple-layer brochures containing a plurality of n signatures having a gathering and stitching machine. Here, in a first step, the depositing of a first signature takes place by a first feeder into a first transport segment and, in a second step, the depositing of a second signature takes place by a second feeder into a second transport segment. Correspondingly further depositing of further signatures can take place by further feeders into further transport segments. Finally, depositing of an n-th signature takes place by an n-th feeder into an n-th transport segment. The signatures which are deposited on a gathering element in this way are transported through the stitching station and the trimming station and are delivered in the delivery station. A gathering and stitching machine performs the method and has a control unit which has a machine program for collating multiple-layer brochures having a plurality of n signatures.

Abstract: A system for automatically producing a bound album consisting of individual sheets, for example, a photo album is disclosed. The system includes a unit which immediately draws in sheets output by a printer or a stacker; a unit for creasing said sheets so as to facilitate folding them and keeping said sheets in their folded form; an adhesive application unit designed to paste at least some of the sheets two by two; and a unit to flip part of the cover sheet. The book block transport system includes a clamp, which is also referred to as a lubrication clamp, having a device for lubricating the guide track. An applicator is assigned to each track roller of the clamp, and the lubricant is transferred to the track rollers through the use of a respective applicator such as a brush. The track rollers transfer the lubricant to contact surfaces of the guide track. A lubrication clamp for a book block transport system in a book binding machine, is also provided.
Abstract: A punching processing unit punches holes in a paper bundle delivered from a preprocessing device. A bookbinding unit includes a cartridge for stocking a plurality of rings, and performs a ring binding by binding the paper bundle with the rings. Abstract: A manual perfect binding machine that binds paperback books with hot glue. Pages and a cover are fed under the two clamps on the front of the machine. The front platform is rotated upright to jog the pages. The platform is then rotated horizontally and the pages are secured under the clamps. The cover is scored and a downward clamp is pressed down onto the cover and pages. The front platform is rotated vertically. The uppermost clamp is loosened to allow the glue to penetrate. Glue is applied to the spine, then a leveling guide is moved across the pages, creating a uniform layer of glue on the spine. The front platform is rotated horizontally once more, pressing the glue and spine together. After several seconds, the front platform is rotated vertically. The clamps are loosened and the book is removed. The binding process is complete.
Abstract: A perforation apparatus, having: a perforation device to perforate a sheet by a punch; a pair of aligning members to align the sheet in a sheet width direction; and a contact member to contact with an trailing edge of the sheet, capable of being inserted and retracted with respect to a conveyance path of the sheet, disposed at an upstream side of the punch in the sheet conveyance direction; wherein the sheet is moved and aligned to a sheet aligning position while being grasped by the aligning members, the aligning device is retracted from the sheet aligning position after the aligning operation is completed, subsequently the contact member pushes the trailing edge of the sheet and conveys the sheet to a predetermined position, then the sheet is perforated by the perforation device.

Abstract: Described is a device and a procedure to twist a coil into perforations that are provided in the margin sections of flat components, sheets of paper in particular, with a drive that causes the rotation and axial in-feed of the coil, corresponding to the inclination of its helix shape. With a stopping device the coil is inhibited from moving further and a release brings the coil out of contact with the stopping device and into contact with the drive.
Abstract: This invention provides a booklet making method including a cutting size setting step of setting a cutting size on the basis of a difference amount between a layout position of an image when a layout interval between images printed on a printing medium is minimum and a layout position of an image when the layout interval between images is maximum; an image printing step of adjusting the layout interval between the images printed on the printing medium in accordance with a position of the printing medium upon binding, and printing an image on the printing medium; a binding step of binding a plurality of printing media bearing images to prepare a printing medium bundle; a folding step of folding the printing medium in half; and a cutting step of cutting an edge of the printing medium bundle on the basis of the cutting size.

Abstract: There is described an image forming apparatus, which makes it possible to form a lining cover sheet image at an appropriate position of the lining cover sheet, irrespective of change of the lining cover sheet width. Abstract: Provided is a bookbinding apparatus including: a conveying unit which sequentially conveys sheets; a gluing unit which glues the sheets conveyed by the conveying unit; a stacking unit which sequentially stacks the sheets glued by the gluing unit; a pressurizing unit which pressurizes glued portions of the sheets stacked on the stacking unit; and a control unit which temporarily stops a stacking process carried out by the conveying unit onto the stacking unit and causes the pressurizing unit to execute a pressurizing process on the sheets stacked on the stacking unit when an operation interrupting event occurs during the stacking process.
