Patent number: 5192506Abstract: An automated assay system includes a temperature controlled chamber with a conveyor therein. The conveyor carries berths past a port in a sidewall of the chamber to permit insertion and extraction of assay cartridges via the port into respective ones of the berths. An injector disposed outside the chamber and at the port includes a loader arm for advancing cartridges along a path through the port to accomplish insertion and extraction of a cartridge. A track is provided in the injector for guiding the assay module. A portion of the track connects by a swing arm to a pivot allowing the track portion to be swung away from the path for ejection of a cartridge. A door which provides for opening and closing of the port is connected to the swing arm to move concurrently with the swinging of the track portion. This allows for automatic closure of the port subsequent to an insertion or an extraction of a cartridge, and automatic opening of the port prior to insertion or extraction of the cartridge.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1991Date of Patent: March 9, 1993Assignee: P B Diagnostic Systems, Inc.Inventors: Fareed Kureshy, Charles A. Patent number: 4637327Abstract: A stoking plant for fuel in whole bales, where the bales are conveyed on a transport tract (8) from a store and stoked in the whole condition into one of a number of combustion furnaces (2) with boilers (1), comprises a slide-gate (10) through which a bale transport carriage (5) can be filled with a bale of fuel. The transport carriage (5) then conveys the bale forward to the furnace (2) which is in need of fuel. When the bale transport carriage is positioned opposite the stoking door (4) of the furnace, a cover door (6) is released which is pressed against the carriage (5) by springs (13), a switch element is activated and the stoking door (4) is opened, and the bale is pushed into the furnace (2) by a piston (7). The piston (7) is withdrawn, but in such a manner that the furnace door (4) is closed before the cover door (6) is withdrawn to the start position. The bale transport carriage (5) is a tubular carriage which travels on running rails (9).Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1986Date of Patent: January 20, 1987Assignee: Jydsk Varmekedelfabrik A/SInventor: Michael L. Patent number: 4299525Abstract: A tool is described for assisting in the endwise insertion of logs into a wood-burning stove. The tool includes a cradle in supporting a major portion of a log, the cradle being of a size to pass through the door opening of the stove. A handle extends from the rear of the cradle to permit a user to orient the frame, within the stove, for proper placement of the log. The handle may be provided with an ejector which is used to push the log from the cradle when desired. A handle extension, pivoted to the end of the handle, is provided to contact the floor and support the handle end of the tool while a log is placed on the cradle, the forward end of the cradle resting on a support at the door opening. This support may be a horizontal roller mounted at the stove door opening.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1980Date of Patent: November 10, 1981Inventor: Robert G. Coffman
