Abstract: Segmented silicon carbide liners for use in a fluidized bed reactor for production of polysilicon-coated granulate material are disclosed, as well as methods of making and using the segmented silicon carbide liners. Non-contaminating bonding materials for joining silicon carbide segments also are disclosed. One or more of the silicon carbide segments may be constructed of reaction-bonded silicon carbide.

Abstract: A hatch and valve arrangement for a charging installation for a shaft furnace, such as a blast furnace, said arrangement comprising a housing (1), inside which is located at least one hatch (21) and/or a valve (31), caused to pivot by an actuator (25, 35) located outside the housing and connected to the hatch or valve by a linking shaft guided in a bearing that is fixed with respect to the housing. The bearing (24, 34) and the actuator (25, 35) are mounted on a detachable door (26, 36) that seals an opening (13, 15) made in the wall of the housing (1) and whose dimensions are determined such that the hatch or the valve can be withdrawn transversely to the axis of the housing through said opening.

Abstract: A bulk particulate handling apparatus and method for transferring material between a first and second site which utilizes a stream of gas to remove material from the flow path. Contamination of the flow-path is thereby reduced by providing the stream of gas for the removal of material before and after flow of material. A method embodied by the invention is directed toward the use of a bulk particulate handling apparatus.
Abstract: A device is provided for charging a pressurized enclosure, particularly a blast furnace. The device comprises a closing off bell which is movable inside a hopper and is used to close off a discharge opening. A lower sealing member encompasses a closing off element set out below the bell and is capable of moving axially with respect to the latter, and a seat is mounted below the discharge opening. The closing off element is equipped with an inflatable seal, and its seat is equipped with a first peripheral sealing surface which is substantially vertical or points downwardly. The inflatable seal interacts with the first sealing surface in order to ensure sealing of the pressurized enclosure with respect to the hopper.

Abstract: Parking garage hoist translates on a central `main` aisle driven by hydraulic translation motor and raises hoist car driven by hydraulic translation motor. Both motors are mounted near the base of the hoist and power for the hydraulic motors is derived from overhead electrical rails and power pick-up with the picked up power converted to hydraulic power. A transverse aisle may be provided to house a hoist for maintenance while another hoist travels on the main aisle. An extension aisle may be provided to house a hoist while another hoist travels on the main aisle.
Abstract: Feed apparatus for a uniflow regenerative shaft furnace for the calcining of limestone and similar raw materials is formed with a feed container installed above each of the shafts of the furnace, each of the feed containers being arranged concentrically with the shaft axis of the respective shaft over which it is installed and constructed to be maintained in rotation during filling thereof of the material to be calcined.
Abstract: A method and a device for the uniform distribution of a bulk materials stream, particularly one conveyed pneumatically, onto a more extended cross-sectional area possibly divided up into partial stream cross-sections by partitions, is distinguished by the bulk materials stream passing through an elongate vertical charging space, at the end of which it is gathered into a narrowing outlet channel in which the bulk material shows an essentially uniform cross-section distribution and that this bulk materials stream then passes to the tip of a coaxially arranged distribution cone which deflects the bulk material sideways uniformly in all directions and in this way forms a hollow bulk materials curtain of uniform circumferential distribution. This bulk materials curtain can be used as such, for instance in a vessel in which the bulk material is sprayed with liquid, or can be used for the further subdivision into partial streams.
Abstract: A cooling arrangement particularly for cooling a locking device arranged in a fuel feed opening of pressure gasification generators comprises a lock seat connected to the generator and a lock cone adapted for moving into and out of engagement with the lock seat and provided with a supply line to provide a cooling medium to the lock cone and a discharge line through which the used medium is drained off the lock cone. The lock cone is formed as a hollow body with a cooling chamber in its interior and is provided with guide means extending towards the lowermost area of the lock cone to direct the cooling medium into contact with the mostly overheated lowermost area of the lock cone positioned in a close relationship with the pressure gasification generator.
