Patent number: 11136187Abstract: A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a battery, a vehicle body, an electric power take-off system, a lifting system, and a disconnect. The chassis supports a plurality of wheels. The battery is supported by the chassis and is configured to provide electrical power to a first motor. Rotation of the first motor selectively drives at least one of the plurality of wheels. The vehicle body is supported by the chassis and defines a receptacle for storing refuse. The electric power take-off system is coupled to the vehicle body and includes a second motor configured to convert electrical power received from the battery into hydraulic power. The lifting system is coupled to the vehicle body and is movable relative to the receptacle using hydraulic power from the electric power take-off system. The disconnect is positioned between the battery and the electric power take-off and is configured to selectively decouple the electric power take-off system from the battery.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2021Date of Patent: October 5, 2021Assignee: Oshkosh CorporationInventors: Jeffrey Koga, Emily Davis, Jerrod Kappers, Vince Schad, Robert S. Patent number: 10633182Abstract: A multi-compartment, sweeper-type rear loading refuse packer, in which a single pack blade is pivotally connected to a multi-section sweep blade. Only a single pack blade is needed to move all the sections of the sweep blade toward the compartments. As the type of refuse in each compartment is different and must be offloaded separately, especially in a three-compartment system, two anti-spill plates are provided for selective blocking of the lower portion of the outer two compartments. Seal plates can also be provided for selective blocking of the upper portion of the outer two compartments, whereby an anti-spill plate and paired seal plate confront and close the opening of the associated refuse compartment when the compaction unit is pivoted to the ejection position.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2016Date of Patent: April 28, 2020Assignee: Air-Flo Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventors: Tom W. Patent number: 6719349Abstract: Trucks and other work machines require strong and easily operated and maintained tailgate assemblies. Often, the operating structure of the tailgate assembly requires precise alignment and relatively large clearance space to operate effectively. The operating structure is also commonly under great stresses from the tension and compression forces that power the operating structure to move the tailgate. A tailgate assembly including a tailgate and an; operating structure is provided. The tailgate is attached to a platform in a hinge d manner and allowed to move pivotally with respect to the platform. The operating structure includes a linear actuator and a linking member. The linear actuator is attached to the platform. The linking member has a first end portion pivotally attached to the linear actuator, a fulcrum pivotally attached to the platform, and a second end portion attached to a tracking member. The tracking member is adapted to contact the tailgate and to move vertically with respect to the tailgate.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2002Date of Patent: April 13, 2004Assignee: Caterpillar S.A.R.L.Inventor: John P. Patent number: 6234739Abstract: A compaction mechanism for mounting to a storage body for refuse or recyclables includes a tailgate apparatus mountable to a rearward opening of the storage body. The tailgate apparatus includes a receiving hopper and a movable panel which in a compaction position provides a rear closure for the storage body. The moveable panel is pivotally mounted to a pair of side panels which are pivotable upon the rear end of the sides of the tailgate. The movable panel may be swept rearwardly while the side panels are pivotable to a high position and then after the side panels are lowered, the moveable panel is pivoted forwardly to sweep through the hopper and compact the swept articles into the opening of the storage body. The entire tailgate may be opened by operation of a cylinder and link mechanism mounted between the top of the storage body and the rear face of the tailgate.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1998Date of Patent: May 22, 2001Assignee: Wayne Engineering CorporationInventors: Fred P.
