Abstract: A transportation cart primarily for transporting deceased animals through the alleyways of a barn has a swivelling mast and boom mounted on the front section of a frame driven by powered wheels with a slide panel attached to the mast below the boom over which the object can slide as it is pulled by actuating a winch to be carried. A coupling is provided between the front frame section and a rear frame section with castor wheels for providing side to side movement of the rear frame section relative to the front frame section transverse to a longitudinal center line to provide ballast when the lifting is to one side and to provide manoeuvrability. The boom has an inner end mounted on the mast for pivotal movement about a transverse axis such that an outer end of the boom can be raised and lowered and the slide panel is movable from its inclined slide position below the boom to a raised stored position attached to an underside of the boom.

  • Patent number: 7070059
Abstract: An improved hoist is disclosed to reposition a load relative to a vehicle compartment such as a trunk of a vehicle. The hoist comprises a base for location on a generally horizontal lower surface of the vehicle compartment. A horizontal telescoping shaft has a first and second distal end extending from opposed sides of the base for engaging with opposed generally vertical surfaces of the vehicle compartment. A horizontal expander coacts between the first and second distal ends for applying a horizontal engaging force between the opposed generally vertical surfaces of the vehicle compartment for horizontally stabilizing the base within the vehicle compartment. A vertical telescoping shaft having a distal end extends vertically from the improved hoist for engaging with a upper generally horizontal surface of the vehicle compartment.

  • Patent number: 6981834
Abstract: A hoist includes is removably attachable to a vehicle hitch and includes a connector member and a first locking plate for adjustably connecting a base member to the connector member. The locking plate allows the connector portion to be selectively rotated in a first plane. The hoist further includes a boom pivotally connected to the connector member for allowing the boom to be pivoted in a second plane substantially perpendicular to the first plane. The hoist further includes a winch for pivoting the boom along the second plane. Alternately, a piston may pivot the boom along the second plane. A lifting member is removably connectable to the boom and for transporting an object from a first location to a second location. In an alternate embodiment, the hoist may include a manually or hydraulically operated winch for controlling the lifting member.

  • Patent number: 6860703
Abstract: An assembly and method is disclosed for moving a load into and out of an enclosure such as the enclosure of a van. The assembly may include an upright shaft rotatably mounted within a side portion of the enclosure. A boom assembly extends from the shaft. The boom assembly includes a beam to which an arm is pivotally mounted. An extension member is also pivotally attached to the arm such that as the shaft rotates the angular orientation of the arm with respect to the beam is controlled by the extension member whereby the load may be moved in a substantially straight direction into or out of the enclosure in response to rotation of the shaft. A length of the extension member may be adjusted to move the line of movement of the load closer or nearer to the shaft. A motorized winch is preferably mounted to the end of the arm to lift the load.

Abstract: A modified drawbar and specialized hoist. The modified drawbar fits into the receiver on a truck hitch frame. It simultaneously mounts the hoist and a conventional hitch ball. The hitch ball can receive and tow a trailer while the hoist remains in position for use. The hoist is designed to lift cargo within the bed of the truck, swing it over the side walls of the truck, and set it on the ground. It can also lift cargo off the trailer, swing it to one side, and set it on the ground. The hoist can likewise be employed to lift objects from the ground and place them in the truck's bed or on the trailer.
