Abstract: The clearance necessary for the assembly of the nozzle ring of an axial flow steam turbine is localized through a temporary bolting. The localized clearance is compartmentalized by making a generally radially extending hole centered on the clearance at the circumferential location of the boundary between each pair of adjacent nozzle banks. Pins are driven into the holes and provide a seal between adjacent nozzle banks.
Abstract: A diffuser having at least three parts separable and couplable along coupling surfaces passing through the whole of its body between its inner and outer surfaces and between its coupling end with the suction pipe and its opposite end. Each of the parts of the diffuser is machined along an annular groove portion with a trapezoidal cross-section and includes an annular projection. The volute comprises an annular groove for the engagement of the projections. A centering part including an annular portion with a trapezoidal cross-section is removably fixed to the volute and is engaged in the groove formed by the groove portions. The invention is particularly applicable to primary pumps of pressurized water nuclear reactors.
Abstract: A nozzle guide vane assembly for a turbomachine comprises a plurality of segments mounted in an outer casing by means of pins which locate in slots. The slots are angled relative to radial planes so that the reaction force exerted by the pin normal to the length of the slot produces a tangential and radial force. The radial force opposes the couples produced on each segment by gas loads and the tangential reaction force.
Abstract: Locking structure for maintaining a set position in assembling an annular seal ring housing to a stationary inner shroud of an annular array of vane segments of a combustion turbine engine. This permits an adjustable assembly for obtaining concentricity between the seal and the adjacent rotor structure. Thus, the seal ring is mounted to the vane segments through an adjustable mounting arrangement that, upon assembly of the two, permits the seal ring to be aligned concentrically about the rotor. Once concentricity is obtained, the mounting components must be locked in such position to maintain such concentricity. The present invention provides a bracket attached to the adjustable mounting structure to lock it in the set position.
Abstract: An inherent eccentricity between the rotor bearings and the stator shroud is reduced by intentionally fabricating into each of a pair of frame annuluses, outer and inner surfaces which are relatively eccentric, and then rotating the annuluses with respect to each other until the inherent eccentricity is substantially offset. A method is provided to determine the optimum relative rotational positions as a function of the measured inherent eccentricity, and restrictions in the number of possible rotational positions are considered.
