With Changeable Working Chamber Magnitude Patents (Class 418/16)
  • Patent number: 4946355
Abstract: A positive displacement pump is particularly adapted for corrosive, abrasive and viscous liquids. It employs a combination of orbital and nodding movements provided by a unique mechanism. A rotor member, mounted eccentrically on a drive shaft, fits closely within a pumping chamber which it drives in an orbital path along an inclined plate having fluid inlet and outlet ports. The resultant cyclic increase and decrease in volume of the chamber beneath the rotor member draws in fluid and discharges it under pressure. For fluids of greater viscosity (or where reduced flow rate is desired) the angle of tilt is reduced, without lessening the power afforded for pumping.

  • Patent number: 4884957
Abstract: The displacement machine includes a casing (1) closed by an end plate (2) and accommodating a rotor with displacement surfaces with which a seal is engaged in form-locking manner to co-rotate therewith. The displacement surfaces sealingly engage a hollow (5) which defines the working space and is concentric to the rotational axis (3) of the rotor whereby the hollow (5) is provided in the rotor-facing end face (6) of the casing (1). The end face (6) defines with the rotational axis (3) of the rotor an angle deviating from 90.degree.. The rotor is a displacement body (4) filling out and covering the hollow (5) with at least one recess according to a section along an axis parallel plane or curved area intersecting the hollow (5) wherein the surface parts of the displacement body (4) projecting into the hollow (5) define the displacement surfaces (4a). Arranged in each recess is a sealing element (7) which bears against the displacement surfaces (4a) along a sealing line.

  • Patent number: 4551078
Abstract: A scroll type fluid displacement apparatus, in particular, a compressor unit is disclosed. The unit includes a housing, a pair of scroll members which are comprised of an end plate and a spiral wrap extending from one surface of the end plate. Both wraps interfit to make a plurality of line contacts between their spiral curved surfaces. A driving mechanism and a rotation preventing mechanism are connected to one of the scroll members to effect relative orbital motion while rotation of the scroll member is prevented. A turning mechanism is associated with one of the scroll members to selectively turn the scroll member and vary the angular offset between the wraps, whereby the compressive effect of the scroll members can be controlled independently of the operation of the driving mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4477231
Abstract: A variable displacement vane type hydraulic pump of simple construction automatically varies its output flow rate, between a maximum value and zero, in response to changes in the output pressure. The pump is characterized by a laterally shifting flow modulating member located in a central recess of a vane carrying rotor and whose lateral position is dictated by the pressure existing at the outlet port. The pump can run continuously at a no-flow condition without overheating or stalling and its rotor direction may be reversed by merely reversing the functions of its two ports.

  • Patent number: 4316706
Abstract: A vane pump comprising vanes, a rotor carrying the vanes and which is rotatable about an axis, a housing, means defining a vane running path along which the vanes move, means defining a region of said path to be of non-constant radius relative to said axis and which varies the radius swept by the vanes as they pass along said region, an inlet port communicating with an inlet zone, an outlet port communicating with an outlet zone, a forward pumping zone between the inlet and outlet zones, a return pumping zone between the outlet and inlet zones, and means for varying the angular position of an end of one of the pumping zones in and relative to the area axially subtended by said region whereby to vary the displacement of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4177024
Abstract: A pneumatically operated vane-type motor for driving medical or dental handpieces. A housing forms a rotor chamber in which a rotor is mounted, the rotor having axial slots in which radially moveable vanes are housed. An adjustment ring is positioned between the inner surface of the housing and the outer ends of the vanes, and is moveable to adjust the speed and torque characteristics of the rotor without requiring adjustment in the compressed air supply. To this end, the adjustment ring has a cylindrical outer surface engaging the inner surface of the housing, and a cylindrical inner surface towards which the vanes extend. The axes of the inner and outer surfaces of the adjustment ring are spaced-apart.

  • Patent number: 4008013
Abstract: A rotative machine for fluids comprising a plate with spiral-like passages for the circulation of fluid therein, in which also circulate the vanes of vane wheels carried by a disc coaxial to and facing said plate.Spiral-like walls placed inside the passages are movable in relation to the passages so as to vary the cross-sections of the passages and, consequently, the fluid circulating therein.
