Abstract: A compressor is provided which minimizes impact noise and abrasion between a Z-plate of the compressor and vanes formed in the compressor. Ends of the vanes formed in the compressor contact sides of the Z-plate, and the motion and surface configuration of the Z-plate cause the vanes to move reciprocally and to section compression spaces within the compressor into a suction area and a compression area. Due to the curvature of the surfaces of the Z-plate, the vanes remain in constant contact with the surface of the Z-plate, which allows for smooth transition phases and a subsequent reduction in impact noise and abrasion between the vanes and the Z-plate.

  • Patent number: 6883341
Abstract: A compressor has an economizer injection line communicating into the compressor compression chambers. An unloader valve selectively communicates the economizer injection line back to a point upstream of the evaporator. When the compressor is run in unloaded mode, partially compressed refrigerant is thus returned to a point upstream of the evaporator. In unloaded mode, this results in a higher refrigerant mass flow through the evaporator, as compared to prior art where the bypassed refrigerant was returned downstream of the evaporator. This increases system efficiency by more effectively returning oil which otherwise might be left in the evaporator back to the compressor. Also, the amount of refrigerant superheat entering the compressor in unloaded operation is reduced as compared to the prior art compressor systems, wherein the bypassed refrigerant is returned directly to the compressor suction line.

Abstract: The invention includes a “floating scroll” mechanism for scroll type fluid displacement apparatus. The dual orbiting scroll has spiral vanes on both sides of the end plate. In a floating scroll, the orbiting scroll is dynamically well balanced, axially and radially. The scrolls are fully or semi-axially and radially compliant for maintaining minimum contacting forces between components, hence achieving good sealing for high speed, high efficiency, low friction wear and power loss. A crank shaft-sliding knuckle and/or peripheral crank handles-sliding knuckle mechanism provide the dual orbiting scroll with radial compliant capability. A synchronizer is used to synchronize the orientation of the crank handles to avoid the mechanism from jamming during operation and start up.
