Publication number: 20090084015Abstract: A round counter assembly for a firearm is provided. The round counter assembly has a pin for connecting a barrel assembly to a receiver portion of the firearm, a housing connected to the pin, a sensor in the housing for detecting the firing of ammunition from the firearm by a user, and a data processor in the housing connected to the sensor for receiving and storing data related to the firearm. The data can include some or all of the following: a count of the number of rounds of the ammunition fired from the firearm, frequency of firing the firearm, time of firing, angle of firing trajectory, identity of the firearm, or identity of the user. The data can be collected wirelessly, for example via a handheld device brought into proximity with the assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2008Publication date: April 2, 2009Applicant: COLT CANADA CORPORATIONInventors: David W. Patent number: 7509766Abstract: This invention refers to a compact monitoring system for firearms, including a detecting and tracking structure and a method for confirming ammunition has been discharged from said weapon, more specifically, to a weapon usage detecting and tracking device and a method that utilizes battery operated microcontroller circuitry, and could be used in combination either with a load depletion process warning system which in turn comprises a method for signalizing the user of the depletion process using luminous indicators, and a time and date event recorder or in combination with both, sharing substantially the same structure. Provisions are made in the time recording structure to securely retrieve use information at a further date in a way that may include secure handshaking and a serial number.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2004Date of Patent: March 31, 2009Inventor: Eduardo Carlos Vasquez

Patent number: 7441491Abstract: A detachable magazine for storing and delivering ammunition to a firearm having a magazine well. The magazine has a body with a column adapted for insertion into the magazine well. The column has a passage for transmitting ammunition to the firearm. The body includes a drum housing defining a substantially cylindrical chamber communicating with the column passage. A first sprocket element is rotatably received in the chamber and has a serrated periphery, with each serration adapted to receive an ammunition cartridge. A second sprocket element is rotatably received in the chamber, and is concentric with the first sprocket element, having a serrated periphery with each serration adapted to receive an ammunition cartridge. A spring element is connected to at least one of the sprocket elements, and operates to rotatably bias the sprocket elements to transmit cartridges from the drum chamber to the column passage.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2005Date of Patent: October 28, 2008Assignee: Annatac Industries, IncorporatedInventor: Michael Raymond Snow

Publication number: 20080163749Abstract: An improved digital scope for locating and targeting objects. The scope includes an image detection means that is configured to collect image data of a sighted region. The scope further includes a display screen that is electronically connected to the image detection means and is configured to display image data of the sighted region as a continuous video feed. The left sidefield portion of the sighted region is displayed horizontally compressed in the left portion of the display screen, the right sidefield portion of the sighted region is displayed horizontally compressed in the right portion of the display screen, and the center portion of the sighted region is displayed in the center portion of the display screen without horizontal compression.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2007Publication date: July 10, 2008Inventor: Paul Kevin Reimer

Publication number: 20080127538Abstract: A weapon simulator assembly for use by an operator in weapon simulation training includes a simulated weapon and a simulated magazine detachably connected to the simulated weapon at a magazine receiver. A weapon processor is housed in the simulated weapon to monitor the number of rounds of simulated ammunition fired in relation to the simulated magazine. When the simulated magazine, which is identifiable by the weapon processor, is connected to the simulated weapon, the weapon processor will recognize the magazine by connecting with a magazine circuit having updated operating information or by identifying the magazine according to a magnetic signature member. The weapon processor will thereby monitor the number of rounds of simulated ammunition fired by a particular magazine, and disable use of the specific magazine once the simulated magazine has used the predetermined number of simulated rounds of ammunition.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 15, 2007Publication date: June 5, 2008Inventors: David Barrett, Igor Tavrovsky
