To this end, an acidic aqueous solution or a buffer solution thereof (e.g., tartaric acid) in which hydrogen peroxide coexists is used as a reagent. Hydrogen peroxide oxidizes Sn2+ into Sn4+. Since Sn4+ does not react with rhodizonic acid, the presence of Sn does not interfere with the visual identification of any pink or red coloration caused by the reaction between lead and rhodizonic acid.
