Hood Patents (Class 422/567)
  • Patent number: 10493505
Abstract: A fume hood adapted to be connected to an exhaust system has a ventilated chamber having an access opening, and at least one horizontally sliding sash or panel at the access opening that is configured to cover and uncover portions of the access opening. Each horizontally sliding panel has a peripheral edge that convexly curves into the chamber towards a centerline of the at least one horizontally sliding panel. In some embodiments, the peripheral edge is convexly curved in an arc of between about ninety degrees and about one hundred eighty degrees (90°-180°). The exhaust system creates air flow into the chamber and the curved peripheral edge produces controlled air flow patterns into the chamber. The curved edge is aerodynamically designed to help shed vortices and prevent accumulation of concentrations on the inside edge of the each panel typical of conventional fume hood sashes/panels.

  • Patent number: 8900534
Abstract: A biological sample-processing apparatus has a sample-processing chamber, which has a door with space for receiving reagent tanks. The reagent supply tanks have conduits in fluid communication with reagent buffer tanks in the sample-processing chamber. The door has a pivot with a hollow interior. At least one conduit connects the reagent supply tanks to the reagent buffer tanks through the hollow interior of the pivot. The present invention provides a modification of the door of a biological sample-processing apparatus so that the door is equipped with reagent supply tanks that contain reagents for processing biological samples and that facilitate the operation of the processing and increase convenience, and further, enable more of the apparatuses to be allocated in the same space.

  • Patent number: 8337776
Abstract: A system and method to safely dispose of hazardous liquid waste includes a glove box for conducting a test with a hazardous liquid material therein, the glove box having a drainage line connected to a waste tank for directing the hazardous liquid waste from the glove box to the waste tank. A waste disposal line and an air vent line are connected between the waste tank and a waste container. Double-valved connectors are positioned in the waste disposal line and in the air vent line allowing the liquid waste and air to flow between the waste tank and a waste container when the double-valved connectors are coupled together. When the double-valved connectors are uncoupled, both the waste tank and the waste container are completely sealed to the surrounding environment.

  • Patent number: 8066962
Abstract: An environment holding apparatus includes: a first chamber that has an opening and holds a sample; a moving stage that is two-dimensionally moved with the first chamber being mounted thereon; and a first plane that includes an introduction port having a function of introducing gas adjusted to predetermined conditions into the first chamber from a pipe, and that is provided so as to cover the opening of the first chamber. The first plane is provided so as to be kept stationary regardless of a movement of the moving stage and the opening of the first chamber is two-dimensionally moved along the first plane by the movement of the moving stage.
