Abstract: The invention is directed to Dead Sea mud for restoration of hair growth and retardation of hair loss for those suffering from alopecia and a hair therapy method of topically applying to the scalp of a human or other mammal scalp an effective amount of the Dead Sea mud. Dramatic results in overall hair therapy have been obtained by those individuals that have practiced the present method for a relatively short period of time.

Abstract: An antibacterial ceramic contains an antibacterial material produced by loading an antibacterial metal such as silver on a calcium ceramic carrier and an inorganic material such as cordierite, and has a bulk density of 0.6-1.2 g/cm.sup.3. An antibacterial ceramic filter contains an antibacterial material produced by loading an antibacterial metal such as silver on a calcium ceramic carrier, an aggregate such as mullite, and a binder such as frit, and has a porosity of 20% or more. The light-weight antibacterial ceramic is suitably applicable to a roof garden or the like. The antibacterial ceramic filter can remove and extirpate various bacteria and suspensions.
Abstract: The invention provides a novel antibacterial compound and a process for producing it. Futhermore, the invention provides a novel antibacterial polymer composite comprising a polymer and the antimicrobial compositon.

Abstract: Ferritin analogs comprising an apoferritin protein shell and a core substantially devoid of ferrihydrite, e.g. of inorganic composition such as aluminum hydroxide or organic composition such as acetaminophen. The protein shell can be removed from ferritin analog to produce spherules having a substantially monomodal nominal diameter between about 45 and 90 Angstroms.
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel antimicrobial composition and a process for preparing the composition which composition is useful as antimicrobial and/or bactericidal material. The antimicrobial composition of the invention comprises silica gel and an antimicrobial coat of aluminosilicate on the surface of the silica gel, said composition having a pore volume of at least 0.3 cm.sup.3 /g and a specific surface area of at least 100 m.sup.2 /g. The aluminosilicate coat consists of either partial or complete substitution of ion-exchangeable metal ion (M) in aluminosilicate solid particles represented by the formulaxM.sub.2/n O.Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.ySiO.sub.2.zH.sub.2 O,wherein x and y represent the numbers of molecules of the metal oxide and silicon dioxide, respectively, M is an ion-exchangeable metal, n is the atomic valence of M, and z is the number of molecules of water.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for treating or preventing ocular swelling and corneal-conjunctival inflammation. This is accomplished by administering to the eye of a subject, either before or after exposure to an ocular swelling stimulus, an amount of a heme oxygenase inducing agent sufficient to increase levels of heme oxygenase in the eye and thereby to reduce or to regulate the amount of 12(R) hydroxyeicosatetraenoic and 12(R) DiHETE acids present. Particularly preferred agents include stannous compounds, such as SnCl.sub.2, other metals, heme derivatives and Vitamin B12. These compounds may be administered in various forms.
