The invention relates to a joint ring removal system in which a vertically oriented concrete product, containing a joint ring, is gripped to hold the product stationary while a joint ring pulling force is applied. Then, a shocking force is applied laterally to the joint ring to free it from the concrete joint. The amount of pulling force applied to the joint ring is less than that required to separate the joint ring from the concrete while the shocking force is applied in a direction transverse to the pulling force so that no harmful tensile shocking forces are transmitted to the concrete joint. The pulling force on the joint ring is variably applied and timed with the shocking force.

Abstract: Apparatus (32) and a method for heated mold changing at a forming station (24) in a heated chamber (22) where heated glass sheets are cyclically formed. A switching station (318) is located adjacent the forming station (24). An unloading station (320) and a mold preheating station (322) are each located adjacent the switching station. An unloading cart (324) is initially movable from the loading station (320) to the switching station (318) and then to the forming station (24) to receive one or more heated molds from the forming station and is subsequently moved from the forming station back through the switching station to the unloading station to permit unloading of each heated mold. Abstract: A mold base kit including plural plates having alignment bores for receiving guide dowels for accurately aligning the plates with respect to one another as a mold frame is assembled from the kit. Each guide dowel includes a hollow, cylindrical sleeve sized to fit snugly in the alignment bores of adjacent, abutting plates and also includes an abutment member extending radially outwardly of the guide dowel sleeve intermediate its ends which prevents the guide dowel from moving a substantial distance along an alignment bore. The abutment member may be formed by a circular piece of spring wire which extends through an arc of more than 180.degree. around the outside of the dowel sleeve, and preferably approximately 270.degree. around the sleeve. Because the retainer clip extends less than completely around the sleeve, its ends can readily be spread apart for assembly of the retainer clip onto the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5851563
Abstract: A reconfigurable modular tooling system is provided that approximates the contour of a workpiece to be formed by adjusting the height of an array of pins, each of which represents the contour of the workpiece at that point. A flexible sheet is supported by the pins such that movement of the pins into their contoured position adjusts the flexible sheet forming a mold for a composite part to be manufactured. The modular tooling unit is comprised of a hard rubber which functions to lock the array of pins in position. The locking function of the pins is obtained when the pins are rotated in apertures that match the shape of the pins within the hard rubber tooling unit which distorts the shape of the apertures and locks the pin in position.
