Abstract: A cassette mold holder (7) has a cassette mold insertion portion (12) into which a cassette mold (14) is inserted from above. The insertion portion (12) is inclined with respect to a vertical line (VL) by about 6.degree. when the holder (7) is attached to an injection molding machine. An insertion port (121) of the insertion portion (12) is large, and the inside surfaces (12b, 12c) adjacent to the insertion port have tapered surfaces (12d, 12e) respectively to guide the cassette mold into the insertion hollow portion. Since the insertion portion (12) is inclined, when the cassette mold (14) is inserted, one of the inside surfaces (12b) and the bottom (122) function as reference surfaces to position the cassette mold automatically. Further, the cassette mold (14) can be inserted easily along the tapered surfaces (12d, 12e).

Abstract: An extrusion head having a stationary part fixed on an extrusion installation having a plurality of extrusion cylinders supplying an extrudate formed from several components. The stationary part has extrudate flow channels each in communication with a respective extrusion cylinder and a common extrusion die. Two pivotable outer parts pivotally hinged on the stationary part are selectively swingable individually between open and closed positions by respective piston-cylinder units. The two outer parts define an extrusion orifice for the die in their closed position. A pair of locking piston-cylinders provided with hammerhead piston rods hold the respective outer parts clamped against the stationary during an extrusion. Actuator piston-cylinder units selectively swing the piston rods of the locking piston-cylinder units clear of the outer parts for opening them for cleaning extrudate channels or for an extrusion die change.

Abstract: The double tapered die mount defines a channel to support the die shoulder. No contact occurs between the die and die housing. The die shoulder is machined to be in generally congruent relationship with the channel shape of the die mount of the invention. In the prior art, the die shoulder is perpendicular to both the inner radial surface and the outer radial surface of the die mount. In the preferred embodiment, the die shoulder is tapered from the inner radial surface toward the die edge to define an inner die taper. The die shoulder also tapers from the outer radial surface to the die edge to define an outer die taper. The side walls of the channel defined by the die mount of the invention taper inwardly to be congruent with tapered surfaces of the die shoulder. The inner channel wall, i.e., the channel wall closer to the axis of rotation of the die, contacts the inner die taper. The outer channel wall, i.e., the channel wall farther from the axis of rotation of the die, contacts the outer die taper.
