A flange forms an outer portion of the mold and provides a means for grasping the mold so that the mold can be folded and flipped for the extraction of the artificial stones. One or both hinge portions located transversely across the central portion of the mold may be reinforced with an embedded nylon mesh scrim. The scrim increases the tear and tensile strength of the hinge portion. Additionally, the incorporation of the nylon mesh scrim at the hinge portions increases the life of the mold and reduces the occurrence of scrap molds. The polymeric mold advantageously retains its shape after the mold has been removed from the simulated stones, which permits the mold to be used in subsequent stone-molding operations.

  • Patent number: 6413457
Abstract: A powder pressing apparatus comprises an upper punch, a lower punch and a die. A compact is formed by pressing a powder loaded in a cavity formed by the upper punch, the lower punch and the die. At least either one of the upper punch and the lower punch has a contacting surface for contact with the compact, formed with grooves. The compact adhering to the upper punch or the lower punch may be sprayed with a liquid such as water. Thereafter, the compact adhering to the upper punch or the lower punch is removed therefrom. Preferably, the grooves should be formed by milling at least at an end portion of the contacting surface, the contacting surface should have a surface roughness Ra=0.05 &mgr;m˜25 &mgr;m, the powder should have an average grain diameter of not greater than 1 &mgr;m, the grooves should be formed at an interval of 0.1 mm˜2.0 mm to a depth of 0.2 &mgr;m˜100.0 &mgr;m.

  • Patent number: 6337042
Abstract: An object is to reduce mutual interference between a plurality of sets of molds coupled to a common frame stand to improve the processing accuracy. A plurality of sets (e.g. two sets) of molds are driven by servo motors (6a, 6b). The servo motors (6a, 6b) are individually controlled by servo amplifiers (8a, 8b), respectively. A control portion in the servo amplifier (8a) calculates a current (I) so that the measured value (X) of the rotating position of the servo motor (6a) follows a directing value (X0) sent from a CPU through a pulse generator (9). A torque detecting/limiting portion (25) limits the calculated current (I) so that a limit value of the torque sent from the CPU through a DA converter (12) is not exceeded and sends it to the servo motor (6a) through a current amplifier (26). When the torque of the servo motor (6a) reaches the limit value after the molds come in contact, the directing value (X0) is rapidly advanced in the mold-losing direction.

  • Patent number: 6318988
Abstract: The invention relates to a tool which enables articles to be deep-drawn without difficulty, even when the material used is of low elasticity and/or when a decorative sheet is used to produce a composite article. The tool includes a die which has a recessed zone which extends between a die opening and a die contour or an undercut. The recessed zone is delimited on one side at right angles to an end of the die. In order to hold decorative sheet in place, a mounting is fitted on a part of the recessed zone facing the end of the die.

Abstract: Apparatus for manufacturing cold formed shaped forms of packaging having at least one recess from a metal-plastic laminate. Examples of such shaped forms of packaging are the base parts of push-through packs or blister packs. The apparatus is such that the laminate is held between a retaining tool and a die. The die exhibits at least one opening and a stamp is driven into the die opening causing the laminate to be shape-formed into a packaging, correspondingly exhibiting one or more recesses. The die and the retaining tool exhibit facing edge regions and the die, within the edge region, exhibits a shoulder region that surrounds the die opening or openings. The surface of the shoulder region lies 0.

  • Patent number: 6093012
Abstract: A description is given of a mold for manufacturing concrete moldings, e.g. paving setts, large-volume blocks and large-format, thin panels, having a bottom mold part which comprises the mold chamber(s) and having a top mold part with a load plate and the die or the dies. The bottom die parts (47) which come into contact with the concrete in each case are guided so as to be movable in the vertical direction, with respect to the top mold part, in a displacement range defined by stops (46, 51, 53) and are exposed to the action of a pressure medium, e.g. a bellows (40) activated by compressed air. The manufacturing process claimed works with two successive fillings. After the first filling pre-compaction is carried out at a relatively high pressure, and after the second filling secondary compaction is carried out at reduced pressure, the reduced pressure resulting in desired striking of the movable die part against the other die in the same rhythm as the vibrations.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for forming a sheet of material into an article, such as a flower pot cover, is provided. The apparatus includes a female die and a male die. A sheet of material is positioned between the male die and the female die. The male and female dies are shaped such that at least a portion of the male die is receivable in the opening of the female die to form the article. The apparatus further includes means for supplying a stream of air between the female die and the formed article to release the formed article from the female die and means for holding the formed article against the male die as the male die and the female die are positioned from a forming position to a discharge position whereby the formed article is removed from the female die.

The compacting members are reciprocated by a hydraulically actuated mechanical leverage system connected to the compacting members to produce a very high compaction force while employing a relatively low hydraulic pressure. Each compaction chamber includes a vertically spaced and aligned inlet and outlet provided with a hydraulically powered openable and closable plate to enable inlet of a quantity of soil into the compaction chamber from a supply bin and discharge of the formed earth block from the compaction chamber.

  • Patent number: 5671661
Abstract: Product to be supplied in an ordered manner is supplied to the upstream end of an apparatus according to the invention, the bottom of which is substantially closed by a base plate that leaves only the extreme, downstream end of the apparatus open. The apparatus includes a belt-like structure composed of plates that are alternatingly apertured and non-apertured. Transverse partitions define compartments for receiving product at the upstream portion of the apparatus, the bottom portions of the compartments being bounded by the lower portion of the belt structure which, in turn, moves across the base plate. Product falls into the apertures in the apertured plates by means of gravity and pressure exerted by flexible lips located at the lower edges of the transverse partitions. The configuration ensures complete filling of the apertures in the apertured plates.
