  • Patent number: 11865757
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a formable material having at least first and second relatively repositionable units. The first unit has a sheet die, with the second unit having a rotary drum with a peripheral forming surface for receiving flowable material from the sheet die. The first and second units can be selectively changed between an operating relationship and a setup relationship, with the latter causing at least one space to be defined/enlarged and within which an operator can maneuver to gain access to a region of at least one of the first and second units. With the first and second units in the operating relationship, moldable sheets can be processed by causing the moldable sheets to be applied, and conformed, to the peripheral forming surface on the rotary drum.

Abstract: A forming device, system, and method for continuous forming of a semi-finished fiber product. The semi-finished fiber product is supported flatly from a first side and is at least locally restricted in its freedom of movement, for example pressed on and/or guided, on another side opposite the first side. The further restriction occurs in relation to a guiding area at at least one constant location or region past which the semi-finished fiber product is guided. Shaping tools and guiding areas defined thereby are used for support, and hold-down devices and their contact surfaces are used for further restriction. The further restriction is carried out transversely to a feed motion direction of the semi-finished fiber product through the forming device. The further restriction and the flat guidance serve to reduce formation of undulations and folds.

  • Patent number: 7845930
Abstract: The invention relates to a process or a device for the production of a three-dimensional object by layer-wise solidification of a photo-polymerizable resin by means of a planar or essentially planar construction/reference plane, at which the photo-polymerizable resin contained in the liquid material is to be hardened by electromagnetic irradiation, and wherein the material application for the subsequent layer automatically results from the separation of the last hardened layer from the construction/-reference plane, whereby the construction/reference plane is formed by an elastic film. The film is fixed in a frame, and the height position of the frame with the film is adjusted in a basin containing the liquid material such that the pressure of the liquid material compensates the sagging of the film (formation of a negative meniscus), and that the lower side of the film is permanently in contact with the material during the whole construction process.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transforming vertically-aligned nanostructures into densified, horizontally-aligned arrays. A contact element such as a roller is used to topple an array of carbon nanotubes or other nanostructures by drawing or rolling the contact element across the surface of the substrate such that the vertically-aligned nanostructures are forced into at least partial horizontal-alignment while being densified to give the transformed array enhanced properties. The contact element engages the nanostructures at a location below their upper distal end to topple and densify the array without disrupting the relative alignment of the individual nanostructures in the array. Transfer printing of the nanostructures is also provided.
