Continuous Filament Forming Or Film Casting Means With Stretching Means Comprising Product Advancing Means Patents (Class 425/66)
  • Patent number: 5814349
Abstract: An apparatus for the continuous production of spun-bond web separates the in-lowing process air section including the aerodynamic drawing shaft at which the thermoplastic filaments form a spinneret are drawn, from the depositing section in which the filaments are passed through a diffusor and deposit in an entangled form as spun-bond web on a perforated sieve belt. The suction below the belt and the process air blower are independently controlled as part of the separation and the drawing channel forms an air lock while an air inlet gap is provided between the drawing channel and the inlet of the diffusor to further separate the two sections. The resulting apparatus has a high versatility with all products made and materials which can be used.

  • Patent number: 5750151
Abstract: An improved apparatus is provided for the formation of a spunbonded fibrous web suitable for service in nonwoven end uses. A melt-processable thermoplastic polymeric material is melt-extruded to form a multifilamentary spinline, is quenched, and is wrapped about at least two spaced driven draw rolls that are surrounded by a shroud prior to collection to form a web, and is bonded to form a spun-bonded nonwoven product. The draw rolls exert a pulling force on the multifilamentary spinline so as to accomplish drawing of the molten multifilamentary spinline prior to complete solidification. The shroud makes possible the self-stringing of the spinline around the draw rolls. A pneumatic jet located at the exit end of the shroud assists in the contact of the multifilamentary spinline with the draw rolls in order to facilitate the imposition of a uniform pulling force and expels the multifilamentary spinline in the direction of its length toward a support where it is collected.

  • Patent number: 5695377
Abstract: There is provided a fabric produced by a spunbond or a meltblown apparatus, wherein the apparatus has a pneumatic chamber having at least one wall containing a plurality of spaced protrusions. Preferably, both opposing walls contain protrusions aligned in staggered angled rows and the rows on one wall are angled opposite the rows on the opposing wall, thereby causing controlled lateral flow near the chamber walls. This lateral flow exhibits drag on the fibers, imparting rotational energy to the fibers. The fibers are imparted with rotational energy derived from the lateral component of the two turbulent airflow fields that oppose one another, and have a tendency to twist and crimp. Fabrics so produced have improved loft, drape, and feel and may be useable as a loop material for hook-and-loop type fasteners.

  • Patent number: 4851179
Abstract: The fleece-making apparatus includes a spinning nozzle system, a cooling shaft, a stretching aperture, a diffuser shaft, a fleece delivery conveyor and a device for feeding process air and for drawing outflowing air through the fleece delivery conveyor. The process air is divided into two partial flows as it is fed into the cooling shaft on each side of the cooling shaft. The upper partial flow serves for intensive cooling, the lower partial flow for additional cooling. Both partial flows are united in the cooling shaft. The cross section of the united process air flow is constricted by air control flaps positioned wedge like on opposite sides at the entrance of the stretching aperture. The process air flow issuing from the stretching aperture is influenced by pivoting wings movable about a horizontal axis at the entrance to the diffuser shaft on both sides and also by an adjustable damper which is located either above and/or below the fleece delivery conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4820142
Abstract: The fleece spinning unit has a spinning nozzle system, a cooling shaft, a stretching aperture, a diffuser shaft, a continuously moving fleece receiving conveyor and a device for feeding process air and for drawing outflowing air through the fleece receiving conveyor. The cooling shaft has a shaft wall provided with a plurality of air orifices. Thus process air required for the cooling is fed into the cooling shaft and is at least partially drawn through the fleece receiving conveyor. The thickness of the spun fleece is measurable on the fleece receiving conveyor downstream of the diffuser shaft in the transport direction. A measured value/set-point comparison is made and on deviation of the measured value from the set-point the setting angles of opposing air control flaps which are located at the entrance of the stretching aperture are changed. On a positive deviation of the measured value of the thickness from the set-point the setting angle is increased.

  • Patent number: 4820459
Abstract: The process for making the spun fleece proceeds in a filament-spinning unit having a spinning nozzle system, a cooling shaft, a stretching aperture, a diffuser shaft, a continuously moving fleece recovery conveyor and a device for feeding process air and for drawing outflowing air through the fleece recovery conveyor. The cooling shaft has a shaft wall provided with a plurality of air orifices. That allows process air required for cooling to be fed into the cooling shaft. That air flow at least partially is drawn through the fleece recovery conveyor. The thickness of the spun fleece is measured on the fleece recovery conveyor in the transport direction downstream of the diffuser shaft. The measured value is compared with a predetermined set value. On deviation of the measured value from the set value the setting angle of the air control flap or flaps which are located adjacent the entrance of the stretching aperture is changed.

  • Patent number: 4790736
Abstract: An apparatus wherein there is provided a source of fiber forming material, with said fiber forming material being pumped into a die having a plurality of spinnerets about its periphery. The die is rotated at a predetermined adjustable speed, whereby the liquid is expelled from the die so as to form fibers. It is preferred that the fiber forming material be cooled as it is leaving the holes in the spinnerets during drawdown. The fibers may be used to produce fabrics, fibrous tow and yarn through appropriate take-up systems. The pumping system provides a pumping action whereby a volumetric quantity of liquid is forced into the rotational system independent of viscosity or the back pressure generated by the spinnerets and the manifold system of the spinning head, thus creating positive displacement feeding. Positive displacement feeding may be accomplished by the extruder alone or with an additional pump of the type generally employed for this purpose.
