The end surface of the mold piece includes an edge region adjacent to the molding surface and extending in a width direction of the tread portion. The mold piece has a vent passage communicating with atmosphere, formed of a narrow gap along the edge region over substantially entire width of the tread portion, and additional vent passage in the molding surface, formed of fine unevenness communicating with the narrow gap, and/or fine apertures at a region corresponding to a land in the tread portion and isolated from the narrow gap.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2006Date of Patent: November 6, 2007Assignee: Bridgestone CorporationInventor: Hideaki Tanaka

Patent number: 7287975Abstract: A resin mold material includes one-dimensional communicating holes extending substantially linearly from a mold surface and having diameters from 1 nm to less than 10 ?m; a surface layer including the mold surface and the one-dimensional communicating holes; a support layer covering a back of the surface layer; and three-dimensional communicating holes communicating with the one-dimensional communicating holes in the support layer and having diameters larger than those of the one-dimensional communicating holes. Accordingly, a liquid resin is unlikely to enter the one-dimensional communicating holes, thereby reducing a contact area of the mold surface and the liquid resin, i.e., the mold surface is repellant to the liquid resin. Gas in a mold cavity bounded by the mold surface is discharged through the one-dimensional and three-dimensional communicating holes sequentially. Consequently, a release property of a molded product from the mold surface is improved and generation of voids is suppressed.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2004Date of Patent: October 30, 2007Assignees: Towa Corporation, Japan Fine Ceramics CenterInventors: Kazuhiko Bandoh, Keiji Maeda, Takaki Kuno, Yoshinori Noguchi, Satoshi Kitaoka, Naoki Kawashima

Patent number: 7255320Abstract: A mold, for molding a cylindrical filter having a narrow-pitched mesh structure through resin injection molding, has a cavity divided into sections radially freely attachable/detachable. The sections of the cavity being formed as stacked assemblies bodies each having a number of thin plates, and with edge portions of alternating ones of the thin plates projecting further radially inward than edge portions of interposed alternating ones of the thin plates A core fits in the cavity a defines inside surface of the mesh structure. Air existing between the core and the cavity is externally released from gaps in the stacked thin plates during resin injection.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2004Date of Patent: August 14, 2007Assignee: Juken Fine Tool Co., Ltd.Inventor: Chihiro Kawai

Patent number: 7247013Abstract: Improved powder compacting apparatus for feeding powder between rollers to form a compressed material with enhanced physical properties including uniformity to facilitate forming tablets and similar items therefrom. Side seals confine the powder between the rollers and can be movable independently from the rollers and optionally independently from one another to enhance even compaction. A housing defines a guide channel with a linear feed and shearing zone immediately prior to the nip zone for smoothing and leveling powder flow. One or more vents are provided for releasing gases generated.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2004Date of Patent: July 24, 2007Inventor: Edward J. Roland
