Abstract: Disclosed are a method for manufacturing a photo mask and a photo mask manufactured with the method. The method includes (1) providing a partially finished photo mask, which has effective open areas and ineffective areas located around the effective open areas and (2) applying a half-etching process to form recesses in the ineffective areas. With the recesses formed through a half-etching process in the ineffective areas located around the effective open areas, a mass difference between the effective open areas and the ineffective areas is reduced so that in the process of attracting the photo mask, inconsistent sequence of attraction caused by a great mass difference between the effective open areas and the ineffective areas can be eliminated to thereby ensure that the effective open areas of the photo mask can be laid completely flat on a substrate at predetermined locations and thus ensure the preciseness of a deposited pattern.

Abstract: A computer implemented system and method of coating a workpiece includes moving a coating applicator mounted to a coating dispensing robot relative to a workpiece and moving a mask mounted to a masking robot relative to the workpiece, wherein the mask is positioned between the coating applicator and the workpiece. A portion of the coating dispensed by the applicator is deposited on the workpiece, and another portion is intercepted by and deposited onto the mask. A desired pattern of coating can be deposited by moving the mask or dispenser or both in a coordinated manner.

Abstract: Prior to instrumenting a turbine wheel for component and developmental testing, a protective coating is applied to the turbine wheel so that sensors can be welded to the coating rather than to the base material of the turbine wheel. But it is important to prevent the dovetail slots, which are critical to the usable life of the turbine wheel, from being coated. Plugs are provided that can be inserted into the dovetail slots prior to applying the coating. Each plug is shaped to match the shape profile of the dovetail slot. The plug prevents critical areas from being coated, removes the need for post processing, and allows a single coating to be applied.

Abstract: A deposition apparatus includes: a deposition chamber; a deposition source in the deposition chamber; a film fixing portion configured to fix a film, provided with a deposition surface to which the deposition material is deposited; and a protection plate in the deposition chamber to prevent the deposition material from being deposited to side and upper walls in the deposition chamber so as to control the deposition material to be deposited only to a valid film formation area. A first opening sized to correspond to the valid film formation area of the deposition surface and at least one second opening formed in an external area of the valid film formation area are formed in the protection plate, and, when the deposition material is deposited to the deposition surface by the deposition source, the deposition material passed through the second opening forms an alignment mark on the deposition surface.
