Abstract: Gluing process for micro-structured substrates. The invention is applicable particularly to the fabrication of micro-fluidic components. In order to glue a micro-structured substrate having upper coplanar plane areas and recesses between them, a grid is placed above the substrate, the grid is coated with a glue, using a tool that presses on the grid and locally brings it into contact with the areas, so as to deposit a film of glue droplets on them, and the grid is removed. Furthermore, the upper coplanar plane areas are treated before the film of glue droplets is deposited, this treatment being designed to adapt wettability of these areas to the glue.

Abstract: Methods for improving selective deposition of a capping layer on a patterned substrate are presented, the method including: receiving the patterned substrate, the patterned substrate including a conductive region and a dielectric region; forming a molecular masking layer (MML) on the dielectric region; preparing an electroless (ELESS) plating bath, where the ELESS plating bath includes: a cobalt (Co) ion source: a complexing agent: a buffer: a tungsten (W) ion source: and a reducing agent; and reacting the patterned substrate with the ELESS plating bath for an ELESS period at an ELESS temperature and an ELESS pH so that the capping layer is selectively formed on the conductive region. In some embodiments, methods further include a pH adjuster for adjusting the ELESS pH to a range of approximately 9.0 pH to 9.2 pH. In some embodiments, the pH adjuster is tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH). In some embodiments, the MML is hydrophilic.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a vapor deposition shadow mask system for backplane and display screen of any size and a method thereof. The system includes at least one vacuum chamber, a substrate and a transmission device. The vacuum chambers accommodate ‘M’ set of shadow mask plates and deposition sources therein. The substrate includes ‘M’ number of elementary units, each of which being partitioned into ‘N’ number of regions. The transmission device is utilized to shift the substrate or the shadow mask plate along a path of the vacuum chamber such that the ‘M’ set of shadow mask plates are corresponded to the different regions of the ‘M’ number of elementary units in ‘N’ number of periods. The ‘M’ is a natural number greater than or equal to one, and the ‘N’ is a natural number greater than or equal to two.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for masking the edges of a substrate when performing direct or reverse gravure coating using a kiss-coat configuration, particularly useful for in-line coating of biaxially oriented polymeric films. The methods and apparatuses include a masking plate configured to prevent the edge of a portion of a substrate from contacting a gravure roll, the masking plate includes a top portion having a Rockwell B hardness equal to or greater than 80, and a thickness of between 0.03125 inches and 0.375 inches. This masking plate prevents build-up of coating on the edges of the substrate which otherwise can cause film orientation production instabilities such as film breaks, sticking to tenter clips, and/or edge trim recycling incompatibilities. The masking plate provides a masking method that is effective and durable, minimizing production downtime and maintenance.

  • Patent number: 8520178
Abstract: When a conductive layer is formed, a first liquid composition containing a conductive material is applied on an outer side of a pattern that is desired to be formed (corresponding to a contour or an edge portion of a pattern), and a first conductive layer (insulating layer) having a frame-shape is formed. A second liquid composition containing a conductive material is applied so as to fill a space inside the first conductive layer having a frame-shape, whereby a second conductive layer is formed. The first conductive layer and the second conductive layer are formed so as to be in contact with each other, and the first conductive layer is formed so as to surround the second conductive layer. Therefore, the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer can be used as one continuous conductive layer.
