The hydrophobic article also includes a binder layer disposed on and in direct contact with the nanoparticle layer and including an oxidatively cured product of a silicon-based resin and an outermost layer that is disposed opposite the substrate and on and in direct contact with the binder layer. The hydrophobic article has a water contact angle of greater than or equal to 90 degrees as measured on the outermost layer of the hydrophobic article and determined using modified ASTM D5946-04.

    Abstract: Chemically and mechanically protective oxide film was formed on Mg alloys using micro-arc oxidation (MAO) methods. Further modification of the obtained MAO surfaces was made in various aspects and the processes thereof were described. Firstly, the protection is enhanced by forming super-hydrophobic surfaces, with water contact angle higher than 140°, attributed to hierarchical nano-micro structures. An annealing process after the flash heating is performed in an atmosphere of a gas mixture of hydrogen gas and nitrogen gas. The annealing process is performed on the semiconductor wafer in the atmosphere of the hydrogen-nitrogen gas mixture, so that defects present near the interfaces of the high dielectric constant film are eliminated by hydrogen termination.

The present invention provides a process for forming a multiple layered coating film comprising the steps of forming an uncured first base coating film; an uncured second base coating film and an uncured clear coating film in order on an automobile body having an electrodeposition coating film on the surface thereof, and then simultaneously heating and curing the uncured coating films to form a multiple layered coating film, wherein the multiple layered coating film comprising the first base coating film having the dry coating film thickness of 25 ?m, the second base coating film having the dry coating film thickness of 10 ?m and the clear coating film having the dry coating film thickness of 30 ?m has an elongation at 20° C.

    Abstract: Continuous processes for producing a coated steel wire are provided. The processes entail wetting steel wire in an aqueous solution comprising at least 95% water and 0.01 to 5% weight/weight of the carboxylic acid salt of an alkoxy modified silsesquioxane of formula (I), evaporating water from the wet coated steel wire to form a mostly-dry coated steel wire and then heating (one or more steps) the mostly-dry coated steel wire at a temperature of 50-240° C. such that the steel wire reaches a minimum temperature of at least 110° C. in at least one step, thereby forming a dry coated steel wire. The coated steel wire is optionally covered with rubber skim or otherwise embedded into rubber and can be incorporated into various objects including tires, conveyor belts, hoses and the like. The silsesquioxane coating improves adhesion between the steel wire and the rubber skim/other rubber covering.
