  • Patent number: 8530005
Abstract: A new method to control the iridescence color of solid nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) films by ultrasound and high-shear (mechanical) energy input to the NCC suspension prior to film formation is provided. As the energy input to the NCC suspension increases, the resulting film color shifts from the ultraviolet region towards the infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum; this wavelength shift lies in the opposite direction to that caused by the addition of electrolytes to NCC suspensions prior to film formation. No additives are required to achieve the changes in color; color changes can also be effected by mixing two suspensions exposed to different levels of sonication.

  • Patent number: 8518490
Abstract: In a coating zone, a cylindrical tube is soaked in and taken out from a solution, such that a coating film is formed on a curved surface of the tube. In a wet gas zone, while a first gas feeding nozzle having a gas outlet moves in a state where the gas outlet faces an outer peripheral surface of the tube, wet gas is blown toward the coating film through the gas outlet. Water drops are generated on the coating film and grown up. In a dry gas zone, as in the case of the first gas feeding nozzle, while a second gas feeding nozzle having a gas outlet moves, dry gas is blown toward the coating film through the gas outlet. • Patent number: 8425984
Abstract: According to a manufacturing method of a multilayer film according to one aspect of the present invention, at the step of applying a coating liquid prepared by dissolving a plurality of monomers or polymers in at least one solvent onto a substrate and subsequently drying the coating liquid, the solvent is allowed to penetrate into the substrate at a specified speed. This causes concentration distribution of the solvent within the coated layer in the thickness direction thereof, and thus a multilayer film separated into an upper layer and a lower layer can be formed by one coating. Accordingly, a multilayer film having a different function in each layer can be formed by one coating.

  • Patent number: 8414978
Abstract: A method for fixing images in plastic moldings which allows images to be fixed in a plastic molding in such a way that the image is embedded therein and does not experience lasting changes, even for elastic plastic moldings. To avoid loss of image quality when the image is transferred into the plastic molding, the method for fixing images in plastic moldings after generating an image on an adhesive layer is characterized in that an image receptor layer of liquid plastic is applied to the image which, with or without an additional carrier, is generated on the adhesive layer. Components of the adhesive layer are at least partially miscible with the liquid plastic when it is applied. The liquid plastic phase is then converted to a solid plastic phase.
