  • Patent number: 11673362
Abstract: Described are novel composite structural panels and methods of forming such panels. In some examples, a method comprises wrapping a mandrel with a composite tape to form a composite tube. This wrapping operation allows forming composite tubular structures with any cross-sectional profiles defined by the mandrel. The wrapping is also used to control the fiber orientations in the composite tubular structures. The composite tube is then cut into composite tubular structures. In some examples, the composite tube is partially cured prior to the cutting, which allows removal of the mandrel while preserving the shape of the composite tube. This cutting operation allows forming composite tubular structures with different lengths, shapes, and orientations of the ends. The composite tubular structures are disposed on a support structure and are bonded to each other. In some examples, this bonding operation also involves final curing of the composite tubular structures.

A second pocket is formed within the device for positioning of the cellular telephone over the fire extinguishing packet. Use of the device reduces or eliminates thermal meltdowns by positioning the fire suppressant directly adjacent to the most likely area for the thermal meltdown.

Abstract: A panel for appliances includes an inner shell and an outer shell that engage one another to define a hollow interior region. An interior divider or intermediate close-out is disposed between the inner and outer shells, and has at least an outwardly-extending portion that extends into the hollow interior region. A foam core is bonded to interior surfaces of the shells and to the divider or close-out. The foam core may be formed or established by injecting an uncured or partially-cured liquid into the hollow interior region. Optionally, the panel is a movable door attached to an appliance, and may include a window portion in a central region thereof.

Abstract: An electrically conductive surfacing material capable of providing sufficient conductivity for lightning strike protection (LSP) and/or electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding is disclosed. The conductive surfacing material is a multi-layered structure having a very thin conductive layer (e.g. solid metal foil) and a resin film formed on at least one surface of the conductive layer. The resin film is formed from a curable resin composition containing an epoxy novolac resin, a tri-functional or tetra-functional epoxy resin, ceramic microspheres, a latent amine-based curing agent, particulate inorganic fillers; and a toughening component. Optionally, the resin film further includes conductive additives to increase electrical conductivity of the surfacing material. The resin film exhibits high Tg as well as high resistance to paint stripper solutions. Furthermore, the conductive surfacing material is suitable for co-curing with fiber-reinforced resin composite substrates.
