Patent number: 4626454Abstract: A decorative fitting having an internal layer as well as a method of fabricating it are disclosed. Preferably, the color layer is a very thin color wall dimensioned so that when it is viewed at one angle it gives the appearance of being a solid wall, yet when it is viewed at another angle it is substantially transparent. To make the color wall, one preferably forms a frame on a first substantially transparent panel such that the frame projects out from the first panel surface. One then abuts a second substantially transparent panel against the frame so as to form a color material insert cavity point, one injects a flowable colored material/adhesive mixture into the cavity and permits the colored adhesive to harden and bind the panel walls together. Thereafter, one cuts the transparent panels into a multiplicity of handle components by cutting the walls along lines partially transverse to the color layer. This forms multiple handle components which are a sandwich of the walls with the color layer in between.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1985Date of Patent: December 2, 1986Assignee: Kohler Co.Inventor: Robert B. Patent number: 4243626Abstract: A process of forming a decorative jewelry stone wherein a photographic film image, created by photographing positive artwork and being essentially transparent except for the image thereon, is utilized as the mold for receiving an uncured plastic resin in substantially liquid form. The resin is permitted to cure, the resultant partially formed article with the film portion attached thereto reversed in position such that a second amount of similar resin can be applied thereto to essentially embed the film portion therein. Since the film portion is essentially transparent except for the image thereon, the remaining portions of the film visually merges with the resin segments on either side thereof such that only the image is readily observable.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1979Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Inventor: John E. Patent number: 4239824Abstract: A landscape blanket to be used as ground cover in which particles such as crushed stone, marble chips and the like are arranged in a substantially single layer and are held together to form a blanket by sheets of transparent plastic material which conform to the shape of the particles and are bonded thereto without the use of adhesive. The plastic sheets are bonded to the particles by forcing them into contact with the particles while the plastic sheets are in a softened condition.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1978Date of Patent: December 16, 1980Assignee: X IncorporatedInventor: Walter Kasten

Patent number: 4214753Abstract: An example of the shock resistant transparent polymer sphere is a billiard or pool ball. The molding apparatus includes lower and upper mold halves defining juxtaposed concave hemispherical surfaces to define a spherical mold cavity with a top fill opening on the upper mold half. Interlocking of the mold halves together is accomplished by tongue and window structures circumferentially spaced about the meeting points of the two halves at 120.degree.. A holder in the form of an annular ring is provided for supporting a central disc provided with a symbol on each of its opposite faces. The design is such that the ring when positioned in the spherical cavity defined by the mold halves supports the disc with its center coincident with the center of the spherical cavity. The molded sphere is made by a single pouring operation of resin through the fill opening, the disc and ring being encapsulated within the sphere.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1978Date of Patent: July 29, 1980Assignee: Joseph L.
